    Hi Kitkit,

I have no reason to think BBC have stopped such services. There is always a possibility of some cutbacks in the future, but at present
    - you get a lower bandwidth service
    - you possibly get slightly different streams and options
( you will probably get Windows catchup streams direct, whereas in the UK such streams are for developers and internet radio devices)
    - some programmes are not made available, mainly sport

Try other BBC stations eg Radio4 live and Radio 4 catch up programmes, do other BBC stations work ?

Your problem is probably a fault, if so you will need to report it with the contact form. ( see iplayerhelp.external... )

    Meanwhile please give
    1) the information as suggested by the BBC

it helps if you provide as much information about the issue, including the programme details, your browser, your computer operating system or device, how you're trying to play it (Desktop, Streaming etc), your ISP and what the problem is.

    2) guessing you may be using a computer and the live R2 streams try right clicking in the centre of the iPlayer/FlashPlayer console what information does that give, and does it give any additional error information

    3) it may be worth trying the following
    - clear the browser cache see - iplayerhelp.external...
    - check the computers time and date is correct
    - temporarily turn off security software (adblockers, AV firewalls etc) but remember to turnit back on after testing the BBC radio.
    - in due course the edgeserver info may be useful

Did you try & did any of the above work ?

Strangely the problem cleared up a couple of days later without doing anything and the mentiond streams are available. The same day it was found that Radio2 was available on Real Player without the reported problems.

    Many thanks

smiley - smiley Glad it is working again.

Note that the BBC streams played in Real Player are not Real Player type streams, the player on a Windows computer is able to play the BBC Windows streams.

It may be worth remembering if there are problems in the future that Live streams for BBC Radio are currently available as both the default FlashPlayer streams and the Windows streams. When one fails the other may continue to work.
see faq "How can I listen to BBC Radio stations and programmes online?" -
