Keep getting this message when trying to play Inside the Human Body (part 2). Anyone got any ideas please? (other than the obvious!)

As I write, it plays for me OK.

Bit of a longshot, but clearing your cache might help.

Linda; I've had the same problem since last Wednesday only not with the programme that you mention but with all my downloaded programmes; might be a result of the recent update? for me nothing I have downloaded will get past the 10 second intro, the only thing that seems to be consistent is the error message smiley - smiley

Having extensively researched the message board I have been unable to find any threads of any assistance I have also deleted and reinstalled both BBC iPlayer desktop + the Adobe add-ins without a successful resolution. For some assistance I have tried to contact the BBC via the 'contact us' link under iPlayer Help and FAQ. Since the automated response refers me back to the message board like you I am at a loss what to do next.

Hopefully someone in the BBC will pick up either my e-mail or this thread and deal with the problem before my downloaded programmes expire (although it looks like I'm going to miss the intermediate episodes of some of the series I have downloaded as they will undoubtedly expire before the problem is solved).

If I get a solution I'll repost; in the meantime like you the only thing I'll be watching are the programmes I've downloaded and was looking forward to expire. smiley - sadface

I've also had this problem on a number of occasions. I had to delete the file from iPlayer, check it had gone from the repository and then download it again.

At one point I got it on EVERYTHING and had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of iPlayer, Adobe Air etc. I lost a whole load of stuff I was trying to watch and had downloaded in good faith.

It just baffles me as to why iPlayer is such a flaky product in this day and age. Surely the bugs should have been ironed out by now?

On the one occasion I had this problem long ago, here is how I fixed it:

. Close iPD, including any iterations of it that are lurking in the task bar/wherever.

. Find the folder called ...BBC iPlayer\repository\cache

. Open this folder and delete all the contents. (They are the prelim/intro files that run for a few seconds every time you start to play a program).

. Start iPD. At this point, iPD will recreate the contents of ... cache with the latest versions available.

. See if you can play a program. Please report back to us smiley - ok

thanks for all your help guys. I did get a response from the BBC about the problem but the link they gave me had an error! I have uninstalled everything, cleared everything, reinstalled and still can't get this particular episode to play if downloaded (ie for watching within 30 days). I can however, get it to play directly from the iplayer site! Hey ho! The joys of technology!

I can't get any programmes either. The easiest solution is not to bother with iplayer. I have a hard disc recorder. They repeat stuff ad infinitum and then a bit more when if finally gets to Dave. There are other channels too!

    Bye bye iplayer.
