Hello,

For atleast the last 2 weeks my favorite technology show "Click" has been shorter than normal. My TV guide says its on for 30 minutes but its only on for 15...iPlayer also clearly says its on for 30 mins but when you start playing the video it magically changes to 15 minutes.

At the end of the 15 minute episode we are told that the full length (30 minute) version is available on iplayer..no its not!.

What is going on and why cant I watch the full 30 minute episodes on iPlayer..or the Click web page? ..or my TV for that matter because it used to be on for 30 minutes on a Saturday at 11:30 which my tv guide says its on for 30 minutes but again its suddenly changed to 15 minute episode.

Please tell me where I can watch the full episodes

Hi maxrpg,
Up to the 19th March, the 30 min versions were on iPlayer. Last weeks (26th March) only seems to be the 11 min version and so far this weeks (2nd April) version also only seems to be the 11 min version.

Luckily though, Click is always available for 12 months so the team should be able to fix problems before they expire even if they take a while to sort it.

The best thing to do is to fill in the contact form to report it iplayerhelp.external...

It's a pain to fill in but hopefully the team will fix it.

Not really sure if I've reported it to the right place, but I was disappointed about this too!

Hi Oliver,
Where did you report it? Did you use the form I linked to above?

I am a regular viewer of Click, and I think I can shed some light on the subject. Due to the unrest in the middle east in Egypt, Libya, etc, some episodes were not shown on the BBC News channel at all, while others were curtailed to the 15 minute versions, as currently found on Iplayer. The news took precedence over the Click episodes, causing all the problems of missing and shortened episodes. I know it was said that the full episodes would be put on Iplayer, but obviously this has not happened.

Gah! Somthing has obviously gone wrong here!

Appologies to the previous poster, but that's how it's "supposed" to work, not how it "did" work...

Todays date is Sunday 3rd April

I've just finished watching the end of the 30min version on my TV starting at about 3:30pm. (I missed the begining)
I then tried to watch the whole episode on iPlayer.
The player seems to think that it's showing the 30min version (the timer on screen says 30mins) but supprise... it's the 15min version (complete with the message "you can watch the full episode online!" Grrr!)

I have been wondering about this issue too -- why do they not actually answer this issue on that Twitter account of theirs??

Surely that would have been "good for our viewers to know" kind of stuff. All they have said is that *some length* of version from next week (Sat.09.Apr.2011) will be online from first broadcast; but what about the two before that – no info whatsoever!

Regardless of being bumped during News 24 broadcasts, a full version should be therefore on the website for this eventuality. It doesn't take a genius to work that one out does it, given this keeps happening year after year!

Especially after Spencer keeps telling us, for **TWO** consecutive weeks now, "this is our short version, see the full one online"; only for none of them to actually be ruddy-well be here.

Highly annoying!

There is a problem with one episode noted here iplayerhelp.external...

Also there is a link at the bottom to report other errors, but as reported before it is a bit of an ordeal to complete.

Good luck smiley - smiley

That report function is a joke!

Typical scenario's:

#1:
- you report bad/missing programme.
- your report gets ignored/programme deemed too "unimportant" to fix: the end.

#2:
- you report bad/missing programme.
- your report gets added to the list, nothing happens: the end.

#3:
- you report bad/missing programme.
- your report gets added to the list.
- the 7-day period following broadcast comes first.
- nothing happens: the end.

#4+:
- you report bad/missing programme.
- nothing happens: the end.

Basically: NOTHING HAPPENS 99/100!

(And I say this because I have evidence to say so, from repeated reporting failures for programmes that showed as available/coming soon or were just not working in some way, yet never got fixed most of the time.)

Correct, that's why I wished you good luck..... smiley - sadface

It is a real trial to complete a sensible problem with iPlayer.

OK. so here we are 2 weeks later, and still issues with past episode archive NOT sorted-out or mentioned on the issues page.

See these two episodes:
www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...
www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...
Note how they are THE SAME content.

Now see my online complaint, using online complaints form, sent 02.52 Thu.07.Apr.2011:
*Wrong content x2*

- 26/03/2011 - /episode/b0102ft4/Click_26_03_2011
This 30min version is actually content from the *following* week 02/04/2011. Can tell from meta-info underneath.

- 02/04/2011 - /episode/b0107vhy/Click_02_04_2011
2 probs. Should have same content currently ^above^ under 26/03/2011. 2nd, is still short version, not 30min version.

What's needed:
1) Move 26/03/2011 to 02/04/2011.
2) Add to iPlayer the completely missing *30min edition* to the 26/03/2011 slot.

Click team have asked Red Bee Media to sort BOTH editions out repeatedly, instead you have messed-up both episodes.
Note how (1) was done, but (2) has not been.

Rather impressive; double cock-ups on the same programme during same time period.
Brushed under the carpet again, as it has not been fixed and the error does not even appear on the issues page at all!
...what did I tell you, it's like a self-fulfilling prophesy of my previous comment above.

bump
(26/03.2011: still only 15min version. Easily obvious to viewers, as the Click archive of programmes is available for 12months!)
