smiley - winkeye Better late than never

This mornings announcement has finally caught up with the BBC blogs and BBC tweets over the last few days then.

    My comments being
    "Stealthy release of iPD v3.0.8" - www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb...
"Boards Last to Know Again" - www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb...

    Jonathan,

Hmmm... I'm curious as to why the official moderator or automated sweeper has not removed your comment and placed it rightfully in a thread under "Service Updates."

Or could it be that your and your team have surrendered that topic board to us users? smiley - smiley

Anyway, you will note that John99 has already taken care of said announcement for you. Good thing. With those Osbornian 16% cuts, I am sure that we can look forward to much more fellow user support, I guess. smiley - erm

Anyway, I'll probably have a go at v3.08 at the weekend. I'm finally down to my last dozen or so programmes in iPD format, so if the beta eats them I won't be tempted to use that voodoo doll with your name on it...smiley - evilgrin

    Just kidding!

    ...maybe... smiley - winkeye

Shame it doesn't fix either the problem of programmes being deleted prematurely or deleted programmes being left in the disk!

    Hi, jelv54,

As promised, I have since posted the details behind this premature expiry problem (the 30-day Timer one). As for files being left on the disk, that is probably the lesser of two evils; the other being deleting files that should not be deleted. V3.07 went on a geocidal extermination of any download it considered suspicious... even though it could quite easily be wrong! smiley - steam

They have since dialled that back, but the root problems remain.

Grab a cup of smiley - coffee, smiley - cappuccino, or smiley - ale and have a read if you like ( www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb... ), but be warned of techie smiley - geek content.

I have also written to Nick Reynolds on his latest blog, imploring him to take the DIRE condition of iPlayer more seriously and escalate ( www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/... ). Who knows?

    Cheers, Karin. smiley - scientist
