Last week I purchased a brand new Playstation 3 (so firmware is not an issue). When downloading an episode of Eastenders today to be playable in WMP it advises that you can stream it to a device using a media extender and lists PS3 as a being compatible device. However when viewing the file (wmv extension) on the PS3 it tells me that the format is 'unsupported data' and I can not play it. I have changed the setting in the PS3 to enable WMA. It plays perfectly when using the pc it was downloaded to just not on the PS3. Has anyone encountered similar problems or know what the issue may be? Many thanks.

This won't work. The PS3 isn't a WMA extender, and doesn't accept programmes protected by DRM.

The compatability list just means that you can stream straight to the PS3 though it's web browser on the iPlayer site.
