I can't seem to download anything in BBC iPlayer... I can watch it online, but when I click the download button, it opens the program but doesn't start the download. I've just reinstalled the program but it hasn't fixed the problem. It doesn't even work in any other browser.

BBC iPlayer is allowed access to the internet in my firewall (it's status is set to 'online') and it lets me watch live TV in the program, it just won't download anything.

I've tried this with loads of programmes on the website (most noticebly QI, New Tricks and Traffic Cops). I click the download button in the web page for the programme itself and iPlayer starts, and gives focus to iPlayer, but the programme won't appear in iPlayer and will give no indication as to even getting download information (the notice box doesn't appear to tell me that iPlayer is starting a download).

I've had to revert to downloading the program for Windows Media Player and watching in that application, but I would much rather prefer to download it to iPlayer Desktop

Just to add, this problem has only recently started since iPlayer was upgraded to version 3. I haven't had this problem before.

If it also helps, I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.

I seem to be having the same problem. BBC iPlayer insisted on updating when I tried to download something tonight, so I updated it and also Flash and Air. Clicking download starts iPlayer Desktop but the download says 0 b/sec.

Using Opera on Mac OS X 10.6.

Saw this link posted in another discussion:

I quit iPlayer Desktop and then deleted ~/Movies/BBC iPlayer
    and now it's downloading.

Could you be more specific about where to find ~/Movies/BBC iPlayer so I can delete it too?

    Hi Richard,
If you're using a Mac, the path should be:

    /Users/[your user name]/Movies/BBC iPlayer
