iPlayer Search facility is not reliable - when searching for "Today" you would hope BBC Radio 4 Today Programme would be returned - but thats not the case.

In fact I cannot get the Today Programme to return at all. Meaning a very long drill through teh site to find it. Strange as Farming today is returned. Been like this for ages - I have posted before - and it gets fixed for a few days - but still broken.

    Hi Mike,

I have often noticed inconsistencies in the search feature. possibly the word 'Today' is so common in programme titles that it requires manual intervention to keep a meaningful list returned

As a workaround do the home pages for the prog remain constant and if so you could bookmark them. news.bbc.co.uk/today... & news.bbc.co.uk/today...

John - useful suggestions and thank you. Yet Farming "Today" is returned - so I dont think its getting dropped from the search.

I just want a way of playing the programme each day without too many clicks - exactly what a search function is meant to do!

Like I said - I have been raising this for 6 months now - clearly its not important enough that one of BBCs flagship programmes is not returned in thier own search!

JackDaddy your search method (if it worked) uses more clicks than most others.

Starting from the iPlayer home page you click
    T, O, D, A, Y, Search =6
    Try
Starting from iPlayer home page and click
    A_to_Z,, Radio_Only, T =3

Or as John99 suggests bookmark the Today site.

    Search smarter not harder.

The point here is that the search engine is broken - as it does not return the correct results - what does one have to do to get this fixed?

With the search box predicting what I type - I suspect the search box is still easier - especially as I do not have to wait for page refreshes between my keystrokes

If you search for something else like 'thought for the day' you'll usually find Today in the first page of results.

That's because that term more or less ALWAYS appears in the summary for the show.

Alternatively you could just bookmark the Today /programmes page as it will always have the most recent edition at the top.
