I'm running Vista and Firefox version 3. Until last week I was streaming TV programs with no problem. Then I downloaded iPlayer.
Now my bit rate is down to an average of 280 at all times - half the speed necessary to stream TV.
My neighbours' networks some tmes aren't visible and I have problems with my network "disappearing"
I disabled iPlayer to stop it starting up when I switched the computer on. Then I could see my neighbours networks but my computer couldn't ping the server and the internet wasn't working.
When I restarted the computer another version of iPlayer started up (the disabled one is there too.)
I see in FAQ that your recommend disabling the UAC but I don't think that's a good idea.
I would like to Remove iPlayer (pity there's no deinstall) but I'm worried about my internet not working when I disabled it.
Any ideas? Thanks
This is odd, BBC iPlayer Desktop should not do this. Have you tried a clean reinstall?

No, but I've discovered that if I just stop iPlayer running on my computer the bit rate shoots up to 4000 kbps. I've also found out from the Help pages here how to uninstall it but I'm nervous after disabling it screwed up the connection. So I'll live with it. Not pretty but it works.
Thanks
