Trying to watch Defying Gravity (HD version) and the full screen video quality depends on the size of the iPlayer window I start from! If I have the window at its minimum size then the quality is truly terrible, if it's at it's maximum size then it looks better.
It's like the iPlayer desktop app is stretching the windowed video onto the full screen which is obviously wrong. Obviously it is not looking as good as it should because even with the window maximum size the video is not taking up the full resolution.

i38.tinypic.com/2jdo... << slightly better but still obviously not right, from largest window size
On the largest window size I'd say I'm still only getting about half the detail, as the video player in this case is about half the width/size of my screen.

That's odd, have you been to www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye... and taken the test - doe your line allow for HD as it may be that it doesn't and you're being offered SD instead.

Sorry, just saw you said Desktop, which shouldn't be doing that. Have you got the latest version - try a clean reinstall iplayerhelp.external...
It is also worth comparing the streaming to the Desktop versions.

I have clean installed iPlayer and the problem persists (I even reinstalled Adobe Flash and AIR for good measure).
