I'd like to be able to download to iPhone (TV and radio) while connected to wireless to be able to watch later when not connected to wireless.

Can you advise when this will be possible please.

    Hi Ken,
Apple refuse to license their DRM system to the BBC which currently makes it impossible for them to offer a download service on the iPhone.

Until Apple decide to cooperate a bit or another DRM solution emerges that the BBC can use, I very much doubt that a download option can be made available.

Wasn't Rewat.ch, which I believe the Beeb blocked, going to ensure that downloaded programmes were only available for the normal 7 day period after release?

If so, why not use whatever that was going to use?

Although Rewat.ch wanted to acknowledge copyright (they say) it seems possible the BBC don't want download the episodes to iPhones etc, because since some people have jailbroken their device and could get to the saved videos.

Of course as has been said if Apple were willing to co-operate by permitting their DRM system to be used then everything would be easy.

    No, thirty.

The fact they didn't seem to be able to tell the difference between seven and thirty was probably one of the many, many issues - I doubt Rewat.ch's "DRM' was anything more than deleting the files after thirty days, which isn't really good enough in grown up land.

Not to mention the fact that we have no idea what programmes the BBC have the rights to offer downloads on the iPhone platform for - some programmes that can be streamed aren't offered for downloads on the Nokia N96 by the looks of things, or on a PC, and Rewat.ch just seemed to assume it was all fine. Not really a big surprise they got shut down.
