The 3rd streaming test has been stalling since yesterday. Anyone else encountering this issue?

    Hi kam67,
Streaming 3 appears to be dead.

Presumably each streaming test is for one of the BBC's content networks.

If one of them is down, it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as the other 2 can cope with the demand.

I get a message saying "Download test error" aftter attempting to run the first test. I asked a friend to run the test at a different location using a different isp and he also received the same error.

When I try it it completes the 2nd streaming test then does not get any further. Is it the diagnostics faulty or the BBC servers ?

I wonder if this relates to
"Why is Radio Content from today not available on BBC iPlayer?
    07 January 2011 13:18" - iplayerhelp.external...

This issue is being investigated and we hope that it will be resolved as soon as possible. This should only affect radio content from today. We apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused.

I can't see any obvious link, but clearly, it suggests that one of bbc's streaming content providers (limelight I think) is not operating properly. I hope the matter does get investigated and resolved.

It runs the first three tests and hangs running the fourth. No error report.

Sunday and it is still not fixed. And I have not noticed any BBC comment, I guess I better send off an error report/contact form, but I would have thought that would be an unmissable problem.

The first three speed it does give are over 6000 kbps which is surprisingly high for my connection, I wonder if the results it does give are accurate. Having seen a number of reports it is unlikely to be a problem with either my computer or my ISP. (XP pro sp2, Firefox 3.6.13; Sky connect over BT <=8Mbps)

Thanks for the replies, I have tried again I still get the first three results up to the 2nd streaming result it then stops.

I have tried to rule out some problems by testing in different browsers and used FF3.6 & FF4beta, both in safe mode, and also tested with IE7, all stop at the same point.

I cleared the browser cache in ff, including most BBC related cookies, just in case it helped, it did not. I suspect whatever is happening it is not just coincidence, either the BBC has a problem with its streams, or a problem with the diagnostic.

@ Matt, did you try the contact forms, are they working for you ?

    Hi John,
I have just used the form and it seems to have submitted fine.

I've also had the email confirmation so it looks like it's got there.

Took a few attempts to get it below 350 characters though.

Try the second "additional comments" box Matt. It does not seem to have the 350 character limit.

Me also, too.... the number of successful line tests have been gradually decreasing over the last week.

Obviously the servers and processes that run the tests need a bit of a kick smiley - winkeye

But being Sunday and reported on a *backwater* of a message board, it's unlikely to get beyond being approved by the mods.

Maybe a smiley - titR would move the situation along? smiley - biggrin
