Hello we are aware and investigating, thanks for your patience.

What sort of message is this? Which radio programs? And what do you consider to be soon? And which platforms? For goodness sake communicate properly.

The bbc has updated the announcement to say problems affected all radio output but was resolved ' but we expect normal service to be resumed by early afternoon. Thank you for your patience. '
I have remarked several times that such announcements are not directly visible from either the Radio section or this 'Service Updates' section.

I am sorry but patience is running out..
I and several others have been listening to BBC local stations on our mobiles. This was no longer possible 3 weeks ago. I am very frustrated that I have to repeat this message here. Because my previous message was on a thread that has been removed and my query was never answered. We are now listening to commercial stations for the travel news that we need.
Your post makes no sense it is nonsense...please pass this problem on to someone who is an expert.

What sort of message is this? This is a Service Update which is what this section of the board is here for.
Which radio programs?Any that are still marked as Coming Soon.
And what do you consider to be soon?No timescale was given.
And which platforms?All
For goodness sake communicate properly. That was communicated properly. Short and to the point.

I see what you did there. How clever.
Well that makes perfect sense.
I thought the original message might have been a veiled threat from the iPlayer team that they were going to sort out the mess they've made with the Local Radio since they did away with the Real streams. How silly of me to think that they might actually communicate in sentences, with words - or that they might communicate at all.
And the Local Radio thread that was here, isn't any more. Is that because its not so much a Service update more a downgrade?

I've just tried a couple of Local stations and both Flash and WMA seem to be working fine. Which stations are you having trouble with and what are you having trouble with?

Ok I shall explain. Firstly though, try listening to BBC Surrey on the iPlayer and click on the Low Bandwidth option at the bottom of the screen and you'll just get a service message playing. This is because the Real streams were removed more than two weeks ago, without warning and without any suitable alternative in place.
I have been listening Live via these streams for more than two years on Nokia phones enabled with Real Player. I currently have an N95 8GB which has the iPlayer installed and which works like a dream - I can watch CBeebies LIVE if I really want to, or any number of programs I've missed. I can listen to the National radio stations - although it should be noted here that they are still being streamed via Real.
They one thing I want to do is listen LIVE to Local radio and in particular BBC Surrey, which I can no longer do. Symbian phones as you may know do not support Windows Media which is what the high bandwidth streams have been 'upgraded' to. I have been lead to believe that the BBC would be moving over to using MP3 or AAC streams for live programs - and this would be fine, if I had the stream URL for those I could put them in my Nokia Internet Radio and listen that way. Unfortunately these have so far proved to be as substantial as the Emperors new clothes.
Having posted on here, in the blogs and having contacted the iPeople through their ridiculous help pages on three separate occasions from which I had two replies, neither of which addressed the issues I put to them and I still havent heard back from them on my third request for help, I have received nothing that could be described as 'help' from them. Indeed, the language used by them in the last 'communication' I received from them via a third party, made it clear they were distancing themselves from the whole problem. As if hiding behind blogs and messageboards, without any contact phone number (and I have tried to get through on the main BBC switchboard on several occasions) didn't make them distant enough.
The more I have looked into this issue, the dead low bandwidth links, the removal of availability from anyone with a Symbian phone, their complete unwillingness to communicate tells me that this whole thing has been made a hash of from start to, well whenever there is a finish. The Local stations themselves were unaware of what had been done to their output until after it occurred.
When I've finished typing this I will be heading over to www.bbc.co.uk/complaints and I urge anyone else with similar problems to do the same.
So there you go Matt, I may have forgotten something but if you are able to help in anyway I would be grateful.

Radio programmes for these days are now available. As for the other posts, Ian Myatt has been answering queries on his blog post www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/... and he may do a follow up to this.

I'll investigate further - any chance anyone knows what the AAC stream URLs are? BBC Surrey in particular?
