Live and archived radio not working

Since about a week ago the radio has stopped working on my computer, whether in the old version, beta version, or popout player. I'm located in Canada and am specifically trying to listen to 6Music. When I try to load live radio, the error message is:

    Title: undefined:offAirError
    Description: offAir
    Code: 1

When I try to load an archived show, the error message is:

    Title: GenericKind:FMSConnectionError.FMS_CONNECTION_API
Description: CDN Failover, final connection failed
    Code: 4

Can you please help me out? I'm running Windows Vista and I believe the version of Flash player is 10. Thanks

    Hi aaggarwala: ,

I suggest you check the date and time on your PC is at least approximately correct.
Incorrect local times can cause iPlayer problems.
    eg see www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb...

There are other things you could check but possibly with those errors date and time setting is first thing to look into if IPlayer problems with streaming.

Hi John. Thanks for your note. I checked my date and time settings and all looked to be in order. I also thought it may be a firewall at work, but i'm having the same issue at home. Can you suggest anything else? I have tried other radio stations and it seems that I am unable to play any archived shows on any bbc station.

    No answers at present BUT

t I am unable to play any archived shows on any bbc station.

as an overseas userusing the "archived' shows maybe the
'Windows' streams are not working for you..
Do the listen live streams work ok ?
The listen live is also available as "Windows '" streams, do they normally wok ok for you?

I do not follow why you can not get archived BBC, but maybe you have problems with MediaPlayer/

Hello John, thanks for your message once again. For some reason this morning the archived streams started working again, so fingers crossed they will remain that way. I'm going to assume there were some bugs in the switchover to the new iplayer that bbc was working out. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi John. Unfortunately the same problem is occurring again today. The message is either 'try again later' or 'doesn't seem to be working' on all shows i've tried. I believe my problem is similar to another thread i've seen, so i'll drop this one and post on the other one instead.

    Thanks

I am getting a message 'Radio 4 is unavailable at this time' on both the FM and LW streams. I am in the US. When I connect via a UK-based VPN, the Radio 4 streams work perfectly.

The ongoing problems the posters to this message-board are alerting you to seem to be occurring on the streams/servers servicing non-UK listeners only.

    I hope this helps.

Comments? Ideas on when these problems will be fixed?

I would just like to echo what is being said up above.

I am located in Canada, mostly listen to BBC7 and BBC4 - no program on either of these station is available. Says "Content not available at this time. Please try again later."

This is both at home and at work, and has been going on for the past couple of weeks. Could we please get an update as to what is going on?

    Thanks!

How does one connect "via a UK-based VPN"?

    Hi mebflemming ,

The ongoing problems the posters to this message-board are alerting you to seem to be occurring on the streams/servers servicing non-UK listeners only.

Problems reported in this section often do refer to overseas users. I imagine there will be less users to report problems, more servers to check and a lower priority given to problems overseas.

It would possibly help if users also used the contact forms, the BBC does say they monitor them 24/7; although many users seem unhappy with the response or lack of.

Comments? Ideas on when these problems will be fixed?

We at least used to have an issues log for a short time where we could see what the BBC is investigating, that no longer exists. At least the BBC has commented occasionally on this section so we may get some info if the contact forms & messages keep coming.

I am using the iPlayer in San Diego CA & from Sunday I have been having problems with drop out etc. Today on every stream I try to acces (Radio only) I get "This Programme not available at this time" a little frustrating! I'm missing my dose of Dad Army!
I have made no changes to my PC, in fact I have the problem on 2 systems.

Yes, I'm getting "Content unavailable at this time" - live and archived - for BBC4 and BBC7. (I'm in California.) I'm going through withdrawals.

I understand that as non-UK users we won't be a very high priority. But I hope the problem gets resolved.

And I would be perfectly happy for the Beeb to figure out a way to bill us foreign freeloaders, especially if this would elevate the status of our connectivity problems!

Since yesterday itīs the same story here in Germany. "Not available at this time" although I could still access some programmes via their websites. This is also no longer possible.
I would also be happy to pay some kind of fee for overseas service although my family in UK pay of course, the usual fees.
Iīve used the official complaint form but had no response.

Identical problem in Warsaw, Poland since yesterday evening. Not kit-specific - I've got the "unavailable at this time" message on three computers when connected through two different routers to two different ISPs.

I am in Taipei using Windows 7.

I can get live radio (although I have only tried the world service) but no programmes at all on listen again. I have tried at least a dozen from different stations, initially broadcast on different dates. All are 'unavailable at this time.'

I have used the 'contact us' form to report this but not received a reply.

PS iPlayer has been remarkably reliable recently.

Same problem in Cork, Ireland. Was happily listening again to a 6music radio show until around 1pm yesterday. Since this time - all live streams and listening again radio shows on all BBC stations "are unavailable at this time."
Check both work and home PC - same issue.
Have checked time and date settings. And also news video streaming which is working fine.
If anyone gets a BBC tech response then please let me know.

    Still in Taipei.

The world service live is the only thing I can get through iPlayer. None of the other live streams, and, so far as I can tell, none of the listen again programmes is working.

Most listen again programmes are also not available from the programme websites, but interestingly I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue (BBC7 Tuesday July 20) is available from its programme website (and not from iPlayer.)

Oddly, I also can listen live to Radio 4, if I access it through the Radio 4 web site (and not from iPlayer).

    Please fix the problem soon.

Not having kept a log this comment is based on an unreliable memory but iPlayer seems to have been having significant delivery problems since the start of the new year. Reading this message board one of the most frustrating elements was that the problems were often for relatively short periods and although affecting many were leaving others untouched. Programmes dropping and then coming back when reloaded has been a common feature.
The "insufficient bandwidth" message is one of the more common problems but I experienced on at least 2 occasions all stations playing live feed but no archive material available. I now have the lastest and worst which is all stations (well 1 -7 which is all I check) live and archive "unavailable at this time" from around 12.30pm (U.K. time) Tuesday. I am in the U.S.
Applies on various computers (PC & Mac) and servers.

In the past week I have repeatedly got the message "BBC not available at this time". I am located in Scotland and have been using BBC online radio for about a year without difficulty. It is most frustrating. Any suggestions are welcome.
