Up until yesterday my iplayer worked fine and I could listen to any BBC show. However yesterday when I logged in, I got this message "For the best possible listening experience, please enable JavaScript.."
I checked my settings and JavaScript was already enabled. (I'm using Firefox browser and running Win-XP) .Today, I am having the same problem.
What has changed and how do I connect to BBC?

    Hi Marty,
First guess is that you are trying to use a stream that the bbc has stopped.Have a look in the searchable help/faq section.
Try a .wma stream if you can use those.
Are you already setup to use Flash player, if not you need to install latest version: iplayerhelp.external...
I assume of course you have ensured your Browser has been set to enable flash, as that is the advice you quote.
Post back if you have further problems, someone will try to help.

It would be helpfull to give more info:

If you do discuss technical problems, other users typically find the following information useful:

    - The programme name, broadcast station, time and date and BBC iPlayer URL
    - Your browser
    - Your operating system or device AND whether you are listening in the UK or overseas
    - Whether it's Listen live or Listen again AND is it with Flash, Real or Windows Media

iPlayer worked without fault...well, until this evening that is. Claims "javascript has to be enabled"...which it is!?

Using Firefox 3.5.5 on a Windows7 Home Premium laptop. Have rebooted etc., to no avail. "Jvavscript needs to be enabled" message still pops up.

    Very frustrating.

    Kindly advise Tx.

Solved my iPlayer "javascript not enabled" problem in Firefox 3.5.5 by clearing the cache and rebooting Firefox (Windows 7).

    Hope this helps....

Thanks, mine stopped working on Firefox yesterday for some reason (XP SP3). The player controls disappeared, and the Recently Played box was empty. Clearing the cache and rebooting sorted mine too thanks. IE8 was alright, but I avoid that whenever possible.

Some comments that may be of use to readers of this thread

    RealPlayer Streams No Longer Default

Some users may be having problems especially if 'overseas' with removal of RealPlayer streams from default iPlayer. See bbc service update www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb... thread. And the radiolabs blog it refers to: www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/...

The RealPlayer streams are still available until early next year but bbc has unhelpfully removed some listings of them. So for instance the faq referenced from within the radiolabs blog iplayerhelp.external... still includes 'real' in its url name but has had the Real streams list edited out recently. As i mention in other posts eg 'stream R3: bbc.co.uk/radio/list... ' these streams are still available to play as before from bbc without needing to migrate to alternative none bbc sources.

Windows Media for Listen Again streams - will phase in over the next few months and be available globally. {from rabiolabs blog )

I am not sure what the progress is on Listen Again streams in .wma Or what the progress is for users of bbc internet / mobile radio.
