    hi
when i play hd videos on iplayer or downloaded ones in iplayer desktop it is not perfectly smooth, it seems as though the frame rate is slightly too low and it is a bit jittery!
It is not because my laptop is too slow as it can play 1080p video on youtube and other downloaded 1080p videos fine. I have tried all different web browsers and it happens on all of them! Also since it still happens with downloaded iplayer videos it is not my connection.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

We've had similar comments raised by other users - we've alerted the technical team about them and they're investigating.

    Jon,

This seems to be a very widespread and long standing problem (there are discussion streams over a year old on the topic). Downloaded HD content in iplayer format stutters on playback even though it is smooth in downloaded wmv. Updating Adobe Flash/Air (suggested in some discussion streams) does not fix the problem.

Until the technical team are able to correct the problem, or publicize a work around, the period for which wmv downloads are available for series catchup content should be extended.

Windows Media downloads aren't available for HD content.

I doubt the BBC can afford to buy extended rights.

It depends very much on your computer spec as to whether HD streams and/or downloads work successfully.

In my case HD downloads and streams work fine on the laptop, but with an inferior graphics card on the desktop it works not at all. All on the same connection.

Some idea about your technical setup will help. Remember you've got about 7 days and a few hours to reply before we all go into meltdown! :-(

Yes indeed and just an addition to matt's post. In fact if you haven't got an HD monitor/TV there is little point in not just being satisfied with downloading or viewing the HQ or SD versions..... HD won't add value if you haven't got the kit.
