    Hi,

    Thanks for your feedback on the iPlayer ipad app. We have collected your responses and we have been looking into the issues which you have reported.

    There seems to be a couple of different threads on this subject so it would be good if everyone can respond in this thread so that we don’t have multiple threads on the same issue. This will ensure that we are able to collect everyone’s responses and no one is missed.

    To progress with our investigation we need to collect some more technical information. If you are having a problem with the iPlayer app can you please provide us with the following information –

    Your iPad and Your Connection

    • what Apple iPad software version are you using - iOS 3.1, 4.1 or 4.2
    • who is your internet service provider (ISP) and what wi-fi signal strength do you get in MB. Does your wi-fi signal strength go up and down ?
    • What wi-fi router do you have ? Can you play programmes if you connect to a different wi-fi router ?

    BBC iPlayer iPad App

    • which programme or programmes are failing to load ? Do both radio and TV programmes fail to play or just TV programmes
    • what message are you seeing when a programme does not play
    • can you check to see if you can play a programme that fails to load in the app on the BBC iPlayer website on the iPad. To do this go to www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye... on your iPad, find the programme that won't load in the app and see if you can play it.
    • can you play any programmes in the BBC iPlayer iPad app - do programmes play some of the time or have you never been able to play a programme using the app
    • How many attempts are do you making to play a particular programme - if you re-try the programme or re-install the app does the programme eventually play ?
    • Do longer programmes fail to play and shorter programmes play ok ? E.g. try a 2 hour film vs a 10 minute Children's programme

    Hello, I installed the I-pad app on Monday, and none of the shows i tried viewing worked from the beginning. Below is a list of everything requested:

    Apple software: 4.2.1
    ISP: Sky at Home, BT at work (doest work at Either)
    Signal strength is very strong at both locations, not sure how to check the signal strength on the Ipad. speed of Internet at home is Max 8gb, at Work Max 6gb

    BBC Content:
    All programs fail to load. Top gear, Qi, Shaun the sheep, Natural world, Cricket, story ville. Live TV work OK (BBC1)
    No radio playlists work, but Live radio Work fine. (radio 2)
    Notification: Failed to load program, please try again later
    Natural Planet worked by playing through the webpage on the ipad.
    On the app, no matter how many times you try re-loading, they all fail. Even re-installing the app there is no change.
    As i can use the Iplayer through safari, this will be ok. But it will be nice to get the app working correctly.

    Hi,

    I can view live channels fine but can't play any shows from the home tab. I've tried a really wide range of shows and they all come up with a failed to load message please try later. I can view the shows on the website.

    Running iOS 4.2
    ISP provider is talk talk, single strength is consistent and strong
    Router is linksys

    Hope you get it sorted because the live channels work really well and I can see that the app could be great.

    Hello,

    I'm having similar problems to the other posters:

    1. No recorded shows play ( fails with a "Fail to download at this time or similar message" ).
    2. BBC Live channels do play.
    3. ISP BT, Router Vigor 2700n, 28Gb free on iPad, OS 4.2
    4. Using the web interface recorded programs play if I use normal view quality, I don't seem to have this option wi iPad app.
    5. 3 Full strength wifi bars.

    IPlayer app was installed on day of release. Initially some programmes would load, some wouldn't. The same message, "Failed to load programme; please try again later", keeps coming up.

    More recently I have not been able to access any of the archived programmes; I have tried a variety of programmes with different runtimes. Multiple attempts on the same programme have also resulted in no joy. Live streaming, incidentally, does work perfectly.

    The app has been deleted and reinstalled, again with no success.

    I have tried the web version of iPlayer on Safari and Atomic Web Browser with no problems whatsoever, so it does not appear to be a problem with the Internet connection, router or wifi connection. I have tried the same programme on Safari, Atomic and the app; it always fails to load on the app.

    For the record my ISP is Madasafish with an average download speed of 175-200 kB/s. Not great, but I always use the Normal setting for video quality (as stated above the web based iPlayer works fine; on the Normal setting). Router is a Netgear model and wifi strength is at maximum.

    My iPad's software is up to date; 4.2.1.

    I have a slightly different issue with the iPlayer app for iPad. I get a message asking me to switch to wifi, even though I am connected to my home wifi network and can watch Programmes fine through the iPlayer page through Safari. What's the issue here?

    Wireless router: Draytek

    Failed to load message appears. Will only play live programmes.
    IOS 4.2
    ISP Pipex (Talk Talk)
    Router Belkin ADSL2
    Constant strong signal
    App never worked and cannot load Iplayer through Safari either.
    Used to be able to load Iplayer through Iphone but this stopped working a couple of months ago

    I'm running iOS 4.2 on an ipad
    MY ISP is BT
    I have two routers, a Belkin 54G and a Linksys WAG160N. The Belkin connects directly to the Internet and the Linksys is daisy chained to the Belkin to extend WiFi into the garden.
    WiFi signal is rock solid from both routers when in range.

    All programmes, radio and TV play on my Macbook Pro and my iPhone.
    Using the app, the iPad played radio and TV until early this week (6/3/2011). Now it plays radio, which is slow to start, but all TV programmes, regardless of size, fail with the message "Programme failed to load, please try again later". This happens whichever router it's connected to. I've tried 3-4 times, failing every time.

    All programmes, radio and TV play on the iPad in the Safari browser.

    I've rebooted both routers and the iPad. Results are still the same.

    I I stalled the app for my iPad and it worked fine at first I don't use it very often but now it fails to load anything at all it just spins around saying loading .........disappointing

    Please can you sort I was so pleased when the app came out and now it's worse than useless

    When trying to watch "Brideshead Revisited" on iPad iPlayer App, you get the loading icon (circle of dots rotating), then after a while it says "Failed to load programme; please try again later." This has happened for over 24 hours.

    - iOS 4.2.1 (8c148)
    - TalkTalk, not sure what signal strength, but everything else works
    - Netgear router connected to AirPort Express via ethernet
    - All other programmes work
    - Have tried via Safari too and it says "Not available on this yet"

    I'm having the same issues. Iplayer works fine on my iPhone but I've had trouble with it on my iPad since I got it about 3 weeks ago.

    Using sky broadband, signal strength is full and consistant. Just did a speed test online and download speed was 0.29mbps. (don't know anything about that but just repeated what was shown to me!)

    Software is up to date, iOS 4.2.1

    Seeing the same message as most- "failed to load, please try again later"

    Also just tried using iplayer through safari and the same thing happened.

    I installed the iPlayer app on my iPad having used iPlayer through the BBC web pages previous. On choosing a program, the notification comes up Failed to Load, Please Try Later.
    Radio seems to work OK as does live TV and radio.
    The new app works OK on my iPhone and ITouch though!

    iPad Specs.
    Apple Software 4.2.1
    ISP Sky - works well, full strength no problems with drop-out.
    Sky router - again no problems with it. Streams other media no problem.

    Same problem as most of the other. I can play live tv ok but no archived content. Works fine on Safari.

    iPad os 4. 2 and today 4.3
    ISP BT signal strength good and stable
    Connect speed 1.8mg
    Tried BT home hub netgear and TP-link routers none work

    Tried reinstall but no good.

    IOS 4.3 on iPad and iPhone. ISP: O2, download speed 0.23 Mbps

    I can't play any programmed on my iPad, yet the same programmes will play on my iPhone app (same network connection) and on iPad via Safari.

    The iPad app HAS worked for me in the past -and it's great when it does- but I've tried it multiple times over the last few days with different material but always with the same results as mentioned above.

    Although other posts are pre4.3, could the new iOS update be causing problems here?

    iOS 4.3, BT broadband, 1.8Mbps downstream

    No TV or radio programmes play, always fails. I can use the iplayer website without any problems.

    I too have the same problem with tv programs unable to load with the message please try later. If I go on the web version from my ipad I have no problem. Only seems to be a problem with tv. Radio works fine.

    Iplayer software for IPad will not play old tv programmed longer than 30 mins.
    Running vers 4.3 iPad op system
    iPad will not play from web iplayer
    Radio is ok
    Did run once ok on IPad vers 4.2
    Has worked ok once on vers 4.3
    Failed to work 20 times
    Download speed consistent 1.6 mb/s

    Good signal strength and bandwidth
    (no problems viewing You Tube)

    Not managed to watch anything with iPlayer app... have managed to watch sample program once via web..

    Would LOVE this to be fixed!
