Standard definition iPlayer works fine on Sony's internet-connected Blu-ray players (S370 in my case).
The problem is that when an HD program is selected, there is no "Play" button displayed, so the program cannot be played. I have a good 10mbs internet connection.
Users, on other fourms, report that HD iPLayer has worked fine in the past using these players but now they don't.
    So has something changed recently?

I have the same problem, I purchased my Sony bdp-s370 on 24/6 and I could watch the iplayer in hd (very impressed by the quality), but since then it hasn't been possible to view any program in hd yet sd is fine.
Glad I'm not on my own with this problem. I also have a 10mb internet connection.

Me too, only just bought the player, LoveFilm and standard def BBC channels work fine, no joy with BBC HD. I am on o2 broadband, fast link, iplayer with BBC HD works fine on the PC.

Glad I've found this, I was begining to think it was just me and maybe something being blocked.

Just echoing that I have the same problem on my Sony BDP-370 - it was all working until last week.

I have spoken to Sony who have advised

"In regards to your e-mail, I can confirm that for any queries regarding the content of the BBC iPlayer system, you would have to contact the BBC.

Sony BRAVIA Internet Video enabled products merely act as platforms for features such as the iPlayer and You Tube to be accessed through. Unfortunately, when it comes to information on the content of those features, you would have to contact the service providers as it is not Sony that has any control over the content.

I am sorry I cannot be of greater assistance on this occasion, however I hope that my e-mail has gone some way to clarify this matter."

I'd just thought i'd re-raise this topic. I had the same problem and now when i go on the BBC iplayer service on my BDPS370, the BBC HD channel has gone!, yet all the SD stuff is still there and working.

It is still present and working on the computer version of iplayer though.

and just when the new Top Gear series was on!

    No answers just some questions:

This may be a naive question has Sony Blu Ray ever been officially supported by BBC as an internet iPlayer ?
I do realise that some Sony players could have been advertised as compatible with iPlayer crave.cnet.co.uk/hom...

I did ask in another thread, if Sony do specifically advertise the Players as iPlayer compatible, does that strengthen your protection under UK consumer law if they are not in fact approved as iPlayer compatible.

There will be other threads on this messageboard about Bravia and about DLNA streamers. A recent thread being "bbc i-player on sony bravia televisions (sony internet video)" - www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb...

These are question because I do not know the answers myself, I am asking if others do.

NB I do not see it as a listed device on the BBC page:
"Where to get BBC iPlayer" - www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...

Or are you using Freview or Virgin TV in which case maybe this is not the best place to ask questions.

On the assumption that something has changed have any of you tried using a contact form to ask the BBC. Of course if it is not supported then you probably will not get any reply.

You may also get more information from reading through some of the BBC blogs. (Not something I have tried to do in relation to Blu Ray)

Like others here I've been unable to receive the HD channel using the Sony BDP-S370 & the response I got from Sony was that they were taking it up with the BBC - apparently a lot of Sony retailers are very annoyed because they regularly use this feature in store to sell Bravia TVs. I did also contact BBC iPlayer Help 5 days ago using their horribly convoluted 'email' system, and although it said my message had been sent, I've heard nothing, so who knows what they're doing about it or why it has stopped.

Same problem here. Sony BDP-S370. Thanks for the info given here, shame there is no current solution.

I can select HD, pick a program but no 'Play' button.

I contacted Sony they said try iPlayer so I just emailed iPlayer support .

I suggest everyone contact Sony and iPlayer, the more fuss we make the quicker it will get sorted hopefully !

    Hi John99,

You see the main problem is the fact that up until the last week or so iplayer hd has been working perfectly. I'm starting to think there are two possibilites why it isn't working:

1.) They have possibly changed the video format and codecs for improved streaming for the beta iplayer v3 on the desktop.

2.) Not enough people watch the broadcast of BBC HD programmes on Freesat or Sky and so the people who only have access of SD bbc channels download and watch the HD versions instead.

Also I am a electrical salesperson and it is a pain trying to demonstrate a product when it doesn't work when I try to demo it!

I haven't tried filling in the iplayer help form yet but i will do after i have give it another look in a minute.

It has come to my attention that the HD programmes on iplayer do not work on my pc either. They say: 'This content doesn't seem to be working properly, please try again later'.

Is this with specific programmes or is it anything you try to stream in HD?

I am having exactly the same problem with my new Sny BDP-S370. I go into iPlayer, all channels work except the HD one. I get access to all the programmes, there's just no play button for any content.

Who do I complain to at the BBC?

"I can now confirm that the issue with the play button on the BBCi Player feature is been investigated by the BBC and any information will be either on the Sony support website or the BBC website.

I hope this information is of some assistance. Thank you for your enquiry.

Sometime on Sunday / Monday the BBC HD logo disappeared from the menu choices - anyone else had this?

I wonder if this is a symptom of the problem worsening or if it has been removed pending a fix?

There has been a firmware update for the 370 today

    support.sony-europe....

It's not listed as fixing this issue, but BBC iPlayer HD seems to be working again after I performed the network update.

Maybe someone can try before they update - will help to see if it was fixed by this or not.
