I upgraded the Will internet channel this morning as Nintendo have released a new version with an updated version of flash and iplayer prgrams don't load, the rotating circles just goes on and on. Youtube still works fine.
I think i posted my thread on the wrong part of the boards but this is what i said...
Wii Opera Browser - Adobe Flash Lite 3 upgrade = iPlayer no longer streaming
as the long subject says, the Nintendo Wii browser has been upgraded to Flash Player Lite 3 today Sept 1st.
I tested it out on a few services and found that the iPlayer is no longer streaming me my media. I can browse content etc but when i click on watch/listen it doesnt stream!

Is there any way you can regress the upgrade? According to this FAQ there is a Nintendo troubleshooting page....

You cant regress the upgrade to the previous version if you have upgraded.

Adobe flash lite 3.1 that the internet channel uses takes it beyond the minimum requirements of version 9.0.115 used for streaming on a PC (I know this because the last episode of click was not placed on the Wii iplayer and the link on the click directs to the PC iplayer and after the update instead of getting a notice that I had the wrong version of flash it was giving me the ability to play the stream although it gave me a insufficient bandwidth notice) so it might be confusing the system and running a more advanced stream that the Wii can't handle since a few times after waiting a bit it just gives me alternative series options like it did with that episode of click I tried to stream the weekends episode of click on the main iPlayer (I also noticed that after the update there was a subtitle option showing on the iplayer panel which shouldn't be there).

Anyone know how to fix this problem or had any feedback from BBC or Nintendo as to when a fix may be available?

Hi,
We've passed this onto the team to look into.

The new version of Flash on the Wii allows for support of the h.264 codec, so it's possible that the Wii may no longer need programmes to be specially encoded for it.
Will any progress be reported here?

My Wii also will not play the progs in the BBC IPLAYER ..it used to before I did the latest upgrade on the 1st Sept 2009 ..What is going on ? This is like the PS3 update a while ago that ruined a lot of consoles that had to be replaced ..If this was an update for a PC then I could understand that because of all the possible configurations ,that some people could have trouble, YOU TUBE works perfectly ok , so obviously there is some incompatibility now between the Iplayer and the latest flash upgrade and the Wii.. As there is no way back we now have to wait for another upgrade from Nintendo ( hopefully one that has been tested this time ) before we can enjoy BBC Iplayer again..

@mike
This isn't Nintendo's fault, it's a problem with the way that iPlayer has been set up for Wii's.

Very strange that it worked perfectly ok before the update...So who do we complain to ? Nintendo or BBCIplayer? Neither site has any useful information on this problem yet , but I suppose it is early days and hopefully some useful information will appear soon on either site..

everyone who has just got the wii browser for free is going to think that the iplayer just doesn't work. Could there be a message letting people know that the iplayer will be back?

Actually the people you should be complaining to is those at opera software since they're the ones who created this mess of an update.

@demonix, I'm pretty sure it's not Opera's fault. It's actually really good news that they (and Nintendo) have updated Flash from version 7 to Flash Lite version 3, which is made especially for platforms such as games consoles.
The Wii now has the equivalent of 'standard Flash' version 9. It must be a bug in iPlayer that it's still trying to send Flash 7 content to all Wiis, when it should be sending any Wiis which have been updated Flash 9 content instead.

^^^ Surely Flash Lite should be backwards compatible with Flash 7. It must be a problem with the update because if you look at Channel 4's website which was never compatible with Flash 7, it still doesn't work after this upgrade. YouTube's the only Flash site I seem to be able to use right now.

there is a mis-compatibility on the iPlayer side, it was designed to send specific signals at a specific bandwidth to the Wii. Since it has been upgraded there is an error occurring, the system recognises its a Wii accessing the service but also detects the Flash 9 signal (thats what flash lite 3.1 broadcasts itself as) and is then trying to send the standard player information to play on the wii browser which in turn creates problems and plays nothing.

I have checked with wii makers and opera and adobe and they all say its iplayer, it detects the wii as the wii browser sends out some type of code to say its a wii and the bbc iplayer redirects you to the wii page which is setup to only work with flash 7 had the same with some games klocked to directx version 6 etc

Is there any news on a likely release date for the updated Wii Iplayer page please Mr/Mrs BBC person?
Days, weeks or is it likely to be months?
Both my wife and I are missing our Iplayer on the Wii
