    Hello.

My name is Matthew Wierzbowski, and my father Boleslaw served in both the 3d Carpathian Division and the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade. I am looking to talk to veterans of the 9th Battalion/3d Carpathians or 1st Battalion/1st Para.

Please contact me if you or family were in either of those units.

    Thank you.

    Hi Matthew!

My Dad was in the First Polish Parachute Brigade but he was in the 3rd battalion. He has kept in good contact with many of his old comrades throughout the years.I realise that this is a different battalion but let us know if we can help you with anything. My dad has many amazing stories and I am always interested to hear about the experience of other Poles in the war.

    H

Thank you for your post. Rather a quick reply. May I ask your father's name? 3rd Battaion is close enough...ha ha....I know it was the 3rd Bn's commander that finally took over the brigade after Sosabowski was relieved.

My father Started in poland in 1939, was interred in Russia in 1940 (Sheksna Camp, near Cheropovets). Went (like everyone else) thru Uzbekistan/Iran/Iraq (from which I recently returned) and ended up in the Carpathian Division, when in 1942 he hurt himself during Anti-tank gun training in the Gaza Strip. He transferred from 3rd Carpathian to the 1st SBS and to Dreil. He left England in 1951 to the US and lives in Upstate NY (near Albany) Hi Matthew!
