I think that is the easy way.
Empirical Formula is just cancelling down. The same way you would cancel down a fraction in maths to it's simplest form.
If you really struggle, ask your teacher if they have any or could create a resource which takes you through step by step.
As a side note, you'll never get an exam paper entirely focused on empirical formula. Often, you are better off revising the course and leaving out a small chunk that you don't understand than stressing out over it. At the end of the day, a question that directly asks you about empirical formula will only be worth 1 or 2 marks in most cases.

That's very true. But it's more important to revise and be confident with everything else than spend lots of time stressing over a small part of the specification.
