Last christmas my local pub had a 'Chilli Vodka'. they added some scotch bonnet chilli's to some vodka and left to mix (not sure how long). Can anything be added to Vodka to give it a flavouring, if so, for how long does it need to mix and does anything else need to be added to preserve it etc?

Hi,different spice, fruits, veg and even sweets have been added to Vodka. Normanly a couple of weeks if you can wait that long, the longer the better and nothing else needs to be added as alcohol preserves the added item. One of my favourite is fishermans friends sweets, crushed to a powder and added to Vodka. If you look down the pages, on this board they are many ideas from other peoples post enjoy.

Chilli can also be steeped in sherry for a few weeks with very useful result.
I frequently fill jars with cherries or other fruit then pour vodka or other spirit over them. Makes lovely fruit and drink. Sugar to taste.

I steep vanilla pods in a jar of bourbon. It's great when I'm making icecream.
