Honet answer is, I don't. I only visit now out of old habit, to see some old names/friends, which I see less and less of. There is no pleasure in it any more :-(!

Not sure, I haven't visted much since the changes, partly because of children off school but also partly because I'm not sure it's worth the time. I used to visit almost daily.

Do you like this new MB format?
No I don't like it Mamta - it's vile, vile, vile! & bears no resemblance to the old one in terms of a place which used to feel like home.

Exactly the same thing happened on Delia's site after much trumpeting about what an exciting new board was in store ... hardly any of the old original members post there anymore

Most days I used to logon several times a day if at home - but not anymore , there's hardly any posts of real interest, fewer & fewer old regulars, no banter, it feels like being in detention.

Make you wonder why they felt the need to spend money on messageboard re-vamps, considering they're supposed to be making swingeing cuts across the organisation. I don't feel my licence money is being well-spent.

II wouldn't be surprised if this thread is triangle/modded Mamta, seeing as it's not on topic!

What with the new "permalink" I now call the new look "permafrost".

And it doesn't even have a frosty sparkle, it's more like one of these cold, slushy, foggy days in winter where you never get warm.

BYT, my critcism of the board's look (cold and uninspiring) and bad readability isn't sour grapes. Had they created the sparkly new board they'd promised I'd admit that I liked it. The old board may not have been high tech, but it was easy on the eyes and easy to use.

This is not. Even people who can see well have problems with the look.
I don't think that saying what I think about it will drive anyone away.

Either people like the new offering and will stay, or they don't. In either case, I don't think they'll be swayed by our grumblings.

BYT, did you expect us all to praise the new look, and say how great it is? Because I'm sure that even you will agree that it is not great, and is a very poor shadow of it's former self.

The Beeb is not that hard up, in spite of it's protestations. We are being taken for a ride, and it's high time we all kicked up about it. This new board is rubbish, and we want our old board back, or the vast majority of us will leave - in fact the vast majority have already done so!

I wonder how long this post will stay before it's triangled?

You mean you actually like looking at an empty refrigerator that not only has absolutely nothing in it, but isn't inspiring enough to warrant getting any food to put in it?
    Well done everyone
    For being honest?

Hoping they might listen to us Karen. Already posting elsewhere on telly stuff. Frillz has started a lovely Foodie 'catch up ' thread over on The Archers board where you can post about anything you like. It's in the Village Hall. Also under The Bull you will find some prog threads started by refugees from here. Hope to see you over there. It does seem very peculiar that it's not allowed here. And most frustrating not to make or see announcements of new progs.

Meanwhile wondering who triangled Mamta's OP? Anyway my answer is no I don't like it. The tv issue aside I cannot believe we are still struggling with snow blindness and a ridiculous number of technical shortcomings.

And most of all, as you say, it used to be so much fun ...

But that's just what it's like, LaConchita.

I open my own refrigerator and am welcomed by the sight of food. This board used to be just as welcoming and full of food, giving such wonderful recipes and ideas for meals.

And now it's empty and unwelcoming.

A couple of weeks ago I went with someone to buy a fridge/freezer for our little clubhouse, and opening the doors of the empty display models showed as little welcome as this board does now.

Couldn't agree more, Sue. What is even worse is the fact that the Beeb have actually wasted money with this 'update'.

Better mention something about food, or this will go. We went out for lunch yesterday and I had some wonderful best end of lamb followed by a fantastic mini pavlova. All enjoyed very much.

I also don't like the new board. It feels cold and sterile and lacks any sense of fun or community spirit.

It has left us at a loss as to what we can/cannot talk about and I sorely miss the old board.

Whilst some previous threads had a frivolous nature, they caused no harm. It has been made clear here that any such subjects will not be tolerated.

There have been many subjects that have come and gone some of which have been provokotive, but we are all adults and are entitled to our own opinion. The breast feeding in restaurants one or the ones about children's behaviour in eating establishments one seems to ring a bell<laugh>
I think similar subjects are likely to be jumped upon and closed as not being appropriate for this new board.

I liked the diversity of the old board. If you weren't interested in a thread you simply didn't read it<doh>

It now seems we are virtually told what we can or cannot talk about and I am saddened that many posters (including myself) have lost the sense of 'family' that made this board so special.
