I really hope so. She wont underestimate serena though as lil sis will probably try and pull out all the stops.

I think Venus will win- she's playing immensely atm.

Venus has really tightened her game up. Her first three rounds at the USO are an improvement on her first three rounds at Wimbledon, which is a pretty good omen. The forehand is back to something approaching its best, her first serve has been huge (several over 120mph last night v Hantuchova) and always great backhand is still firing. Add to that her superb movement and good net play and Venus is a pretty intimidating prospect.

I think Venus is a class above both Serena and Clijsters (not particularly impressive IMHO)based on form at the tournament. I expect her and Sharapova to make the semi's in the top half.

I think this time round - if Venus and Sharapova meet - Sharapova will cause more problems. She's on incredible form.

I think it would be a fantastic match if they do meet. Both their matches this year has been of an exceptional quality (despite the somewhat one- dimensional nature of the play, it's still exhilerating to watch). Venus to get through I think, but I don't think it will be as one-sided as the second set at Wimbledon.

On form you'd have to go with Venus. You never know though as strange things come into play when these two play, with the sibling thing.

Morning SB. Did I do the right thing stepping in during the 'Amy Frazier' thread yesterday? I keep wondering if I over- reacted? Just seemed to be a bit of a nasty thread, although essentially harmless...

I think it is a shame that Venus and Serena meet so early in a Grand Slam. With their ability and past records at the USA open they should surely be seeded to meet in the quarter finals at the earliest.

I think it will be a very close game, even though Venus is on better form, because they always find it hard playing each other. Whether it is Venus or Serena who win this game I would expect them to make the semi-finals, meeting Sharapova.

I think the four semi- finalists in the women's will be; Sharapova, Venus, JHH and Davenport. I couldn't even begin to guess the outcome of them though.

Venus FTW, but to win the tournament either Clijisters (sp?) or Mauresmo, the most deserving never winner.

Mauresmo? Nah. If Myskina doesn't beat her, JHH will. She's unbalanced; think Michelle McManus and Rik Waller dancing on a one- legged tea table...
