Andre has announced he will retire after the US Open. We all know it was coming, but still, it will be a huge loss for the game once this legend retires. Go out with a bang Andre.

I kind of wish he'd done it after last year's US Open and gone out on a high note, after becoming a Slam finalist one last time. I don't think this extra year was worth the damage to his prestige.

Either way his place among tennis greats is safe.

Yeah he maybe should have retired last year after that US Open final. I think the reason he carried on was that he wanted to play Wimbledon one last time. The guy is a guaranteed tennis legend. He has given us countless great matches and memories over the years.

Players come and go, but only legends leave their mark on the game - what a career! Sad it's coming to an end, but glad Agassi has decided to call it a day as his recent results and play do not do him justice. At his best, he was an amazing player who helped inspire a new generation of tennis players. Here's hoping he can put a good run together during his final few months and that he'll continue to be involved in tennis through coaching or commentating! Tennis needs his presence, even if he's not out on the court.

Im a big Agassi fan, and one of the matches I most remember was the match he lost against Pat Rafter in the wimbledon semi final (goran year).

Andre was the better player that day, was a break up in the final set, should of gone a double break up but then there was a rain delay and Rafter won. I was gutted.

Andre should of retired LAST YEAR after the US OPEN. The dissapointment on Andre's face after he lost sealed the deal. Andre is 36 not old in life terms but ancient in tennis terms. He's got a wife and two children. Glad to see Andre exiting the door its time for him to move on and go away.

Its so sad but its better its happening sooner than later for his health's sake i suppose.

I hope he can get in a dream run at Wimbledon, to the quarters at least.

Unfortunately though I can't see him repeating last years USO performance.

"last years US Open 1 set all a break up. I thought he was gonna do it."

I thought he would win the set. But i thought in a fith Set Roger's fitness would be more of a deciding factor. Even Martina Navratilova one of the fittest tennis aplyers ever got to a Wimbledon final at 36 years old and still just couldn't quite keep up the pace of Conchita Martinez; it happens to the best of them.

Its just a shame he couldn't have played so consistently well through all of the 90's could've won even more Slams maybe.

Il probably be saying the same thing about Serena in 5 years time sadface

Aggasi is undoubtable one of the tennis legends in the male game. I hope he can top off a great career with a good performane at either Wimbledon or the US Open.

Well this was on the cards and was coming sooner or later. Thought he might have played till the end of the year unless had "great" result somewhere. However, with injury worries a wise decision not to put too much strain on the body.

Goes without saying certainly one of the superstars of the sport whose presence was very much welcome and right for the time. One of the most recognisable figures in sport and probably attracted followers who were not the typical "tennis supporter"

Will hopefully stay involved in the game at some level whenever he can.

While there not be another "Agassi" I believe there are characters in the game with differing personalities but the powers that be need to market many of them better. Not everyone is a fanatic like myself and I am sure many others on this board who follow the game all year round but there must be a way of engaging the public outwith the summer months.
