Hi It seems it is not just the occupied poeple of Gaza who risk their lives, the media journalists whose reports are vital are being killed. "Fadel Shana and eight other Palestinian civilians, mostly children, were killed by a shell packed with darts in April. " "The CPJ says at least eight journalists have been killed in the West Bank and Gaza since 2001, seven of them were killed in attacks by Israeli army." news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/...Irsael seems hell bent on keeping its human rights abuses and crimes against humanity hidden.

Journalists are killed or injured in crossfire around the world all the time. Just in the latest Russian-georgian conflict, an Israeli journalist has suffered serious injuries Many journalists have been injured or killed while reporting conflicts in iraq, across africa & many other places If you get in between two warring parties, there is a chance you will get hurt

It appears that the Israelis were very precipitate in their attack :-
""The army itself admits that they could not tell whether they were looking at a camera on a tripod or an anti-tank missile system on a tripod," Reuters Jerusalem bureau chief Alistair Macdonald told the BBC.
Although there is no record of Palestinian militants using such a system before, Mr Macdonald says, the tank used "devastating force with a weapon that is designed to kill as many people as possible" in a wide area.
In the previous half-hour Shana's car, marked with TV and Press stickers, had driven within 700 metres of the tanks, Mr Macdonald said."

<<Journalists are killed or injured in crossfire around the world all the time>>
The article is highlighting the fact, the amount of force used by the Israeli army against any type media or personal reporting on the Gaza issue is extreme.
"the tank used "devastating force with a weapon that is designed to kill as many people as possible" in a wide area."
After it knew...
"In the previous half-hour Shana's car, marked with TV and Press stickers, had driven within 700 metres of the tanks, Mr Macdonald said. "
What was the motive for this attack on innocenet people. This below answers it..
"Earlier on the same day, three Israeli soldiers had been killed by Palestinian militants and there had been a grenade attack against a tank, the lawyer said. "
This was a blatent attack of revenge by an occupying force against innocents, which can be considered a war crime.

anyone tell us how many journalists have been killed by Palestininas and how many have had death threats and broken limbs because some Palestinians didn't like what they reported?
How many of the perpetrators of these crimes and intimidations have been jailed or even called to answer charges.

One in this attack and up to eight children.A warning shot to enable the journalists to identify themselves would have been more appropriate in these circumstances.

You go into a "war" then expect anything. Reporters have been maimed, killed etc in Iraq, Afghanistan even an Israeli reporter has been seriously injured in Georgia. (that should please you!). So, maybe I understand you will bring up anything anti-Israeli or American. However we are not all stupid as to think this is an isolated incidence among journalists.

Great logic. A quote that destroys the assertions. Do you see it?
Had the IDF wished to target the journalist and kill him then why didn't they do it when he passed close by the tanks?
Yet another trumped up story I believe.

It would not have taken great deal of logic to work out that the tripod was a journalist's camera tripod. The Israelis should have made some effort to find out instead of firing without warning and killing so many innocents.

A few years ago a civilian was shot in the UK for carrying a chair leg that the police thought was a gun.
Mistakes happen. This journalist put himself into a war zone.
Now explain this:- "Why are people SOoooooo interested in the Journalist when Palestinians were killed in this incident.
Is the journalists life more relevant than civilians???

Pointing the finger elsewhere does not excuse this attack which also killed children. The people responsible for it should have been punished.

How many Palestinian terrorists get arrested and charged by the Palestinians for killing Israelis (deliberately)?
They seem to get praised and kids named after them.
I say that Israel should be judged in parity with their enemy otherwise you are holding Israel to a higher standard than the Palestinians.
So, does Israel have a higher moral standard than the Palestinians?
The answer HAS to be yes, otherwise people wouldn't keep bolaming Israel for doing less than Palestinian terrorists do.

Anyone on this thread that cannot accept the findings of the Israeli Army is welcome to write the word 'Press' on a board and then pace out 700 metres and see if you can make out more than bare shapes. If you pace it out at 1 metre per second it will take you nearly twelve minutes to get there. And even if you went to Specsavers you will still not be able to make out more than shapes.
Ah -- I hear someone cry. "Why did they not use binoculars ?".
The answer to that is that they were in a combat zone. Remember that pak4life has confirmed for us that Israeli soldiers had been killed. In war zones by the time someone has fired at you , you have half a second left. No time to pick up binoculars and try to establish anything.Because if you did try to do that you would be dead.
I have a sneaky suspicion that this is the eventuality that some on this thread would have preferred to have been visited upon the Israeli tank crew.
I have every sympathy with the journalist who was killed but the media must establish better communication with the military and NEVER point pointy things at soldiers. They are trained to react instantly and nothing can untrain this instinct out of them.

Israeli soldiers cleared news.yahoo.com/s/nm/...This disturbed me Reuters said on Wednesday it was deeply disturbed by a conclusion that severely curtails the freedom of the media to cover the conflict by effectively giving soldiers a free hand to kill without being sure they were not firing on journalistsQuoted from

No!! It is up to journalists to evaluate the risk. If you make a rule that the possible presence of a journalist should stop you from persuing terrorists and terrorist suspects by their suspicious behaviour than all that Hamas will do is issue PRESS over-jackets.

By the IDF! Spot any inconsistencies in this quote from your link? “The tank crew was unable to determine the nature of the object mounted on the tripod and positively identify it as an anti-tank missile, a mortar or a television camera," Brigadier General Avihai Mendelblit of the Israel Defence Forces wrote.Quoted from
