In response to some of your requests for more information about our cast and behind the scenes gossip we've created the SILVER STREET SPY.

We'll update you regularly via the message board in this thread with info about what all the guys are up to outside Silver Street, where you can see them on TV, Cinema or Theatre.

We'll let you in behind the scenes and give you sneak previews of what's coming up soon. So watch this space for all the insider gossip! cool

You can catch Ram John Holder (Sway's Gramps) in 'The Invisibles' tonight at 9pm on BBC1. Will he be wearing his signature pork pie hat though?

Hey! Did you see Alex Caan (Sameer) in Ultimate Force with Ross Kemp on ITV1 on Sunday 18th May? He played Hassan, an al-Qaeda leader.

Unfortunately we all missed it because although Alex filmed the episode ages ago it was shelved at the time because ITV thought it was too controversial. Even Alex missed it, he had no idea it was being broadcast after all, so we'll just have to wait for the repeats! sadface

Catch Ellen Thomas (Sway's mum, Shirley Holloway) every Tuesday evening on BBC Radio 4's 'Clare in the Community'. If you've not heard it before tune in at 6.30pm next week for the comedy starring Sally Phillips. biggrin

Did you know that Ivana Basic who plays Snezana in BBC1's Casualty played a prostitute, Miloska in Silver Street in May 2007. Kamal was desperate for someone to talk to and he ended up seeking solace in Miloska's arms! blush

Toyah Willcox who plays our very own ex wild child, Siobhan Brady, Sean Brady's wayward mum is currently appearing in the Raunchy 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl' on ITV1 on Wednesday nights. This time she's playing Billie Piper's mum and it's Billie's character who's the wild child! yikes

Catch dodgy Brian Kavanagh in a very different guise on in the current Woman's Hour drama 'Jane and Prudence' on BBC Radio 4 Monday to Friday at 10.45am (rpt at 7.45pm).

Gerard McDermott plays Fabian, a good looking but shallow widower who Jane fixes Prudence up with. Unfortunately though they both have their sights set elsewhere. Hmm, maybe not so unlike our Brian after all! erm

Hey, I just caught up with Bal Sopal, the lovely Simran, who tells me she won't be around for a few weeks as she's going on tour with a play called Mela with the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. They open on the 28th of June in the Courtyard Theatre until July 12th. After Leeds you can catch it at either the South Street Arts Centre in Reading on July 15th/16th or the Drum Theatre in Birmingham on July 17th/18th. It's part of the Northern Exposure season, celebrating new writing in the North.

'It’s summer and the Mela is just hotting up. The whole town is there: Troy, just back from Iraq and trying to be the model British soldier; his old friend Ranjit ready for a display of Sikh martial arts; and Sajjad and Mariam exchanging barbed comments over his Al-aqsa mosque calendars and her hand-made pottery.

Watching them all as they go about their separate lives is Angela, as an unexpected explosion throws together old friends and even older enemies.'

If you go and see it let us know what you think!

Hey great stuff on Spy, this is the sort of stuff we would like to know...I was wondering if maybe it would be easier to start a new discussion every time you have news on the actors?
Any articles most welcome too.
Still no pics sadface Guess I'll continue to keep on googling them.

Thanks so much for reaching out to the fans smiley

Rakhee Thakrar who plays Roopa Chauhan will be appearing in THE RISE & FALL OF CHUNGENLAL JOSHI at The Drum in Birmingham on Fri 13 Jun, 7.30pm.

For those who can go to see it, Rakhee is playing a much older character than the teenage Roopa in Silver Street.

Noted as the Alf and ‘Silly Old Moo’ Garnet of the British Asian community, The Rise and Fall of Chugenlal Joshi is a vibrant, hilarious and poignant view of the lives of the increasingly elderly community in this country. Dissolution fights with aspiration, begrudging love with outspoken feelings as Mr and Mrs Joshi face their twilights years together. Follow their journey as they both attempt to fulfil very different dreams, will they make it? Or will they fake it?

Catch Saikat Ahamed, Silver Street's wideboy restaurant manager Vinnie Mukherjee, in the Radio 4 Afternoon Play 'Venus to Go' at 2.15pm on Wednesday June 11th.

'When three machinists working in Portsmouth's corset industry are confronted by cutbacks and looming redundancies they each choose to face the future in very different ways'

Thanks for the praise.

Best way to look for jobs at the BBC is by going to the jobs web page and looking at current vacancies. I think you might have to register first but it shouldn't take long to do.

Good Luck

No more artists news at the moment but watch this space...

If you're interested in a job at the BBC, one way of making some good contacts is via the work experience placement scheme. And don't think that because it's work experience it's just for kids. It was my own route into Radio Drama and although I'm not giving away my age I'll admit that I'm not exactly a school leaver. Far from it! Click on the link below for more information.

Hey Bhangradr

That link isn't working, but if you copy and paste the address it will take you to the right page. Or you could just click on the 'jobs' link on the BBC Homepage and follow the link on the left hand side. Good luck! smiley

If you catch Doctors this week, BBC1 on Monday at 1.45pm, you'll see Angela Lonsdale playing DI Eva Moore.

You may remember her as Emma Watts, another copper in Coronation Street.

Well, Angela makes her first appearance in Silver Street in a couple of weeks time and she really hits it off with one of our lads - But who gets to share a tent with her? winkeye
