A whole Muggle community just wiped out overnight?” Harry stared at the Chief Auror in shock and dismay.
"I’m afraid so, Auror Potter”, replied his boss. “We can only think that once again, Dark forces are at work. I’d like you to undertake an immediate investigation”.
He handed Harry a file marked ‘Top Secret’ about which red tape was busily twisting and turning
“Yes, sir”, replied Harry. “Do we have any clues?”
The Chief Auror frowned. “Potter, I’m afraid that once again there seems to be a connection to er, Umbridge”.
“Dolores? Isn’t she still in Azkaban?”
“Apologies, Auror Potter. I meant Ambridge. It’s a Muggle village in Borsetshire…”
“I know”, interrupted Harry, his heart sinking. Often he would awake from nightmares, which he told Ginny were about Voldemort, Nagini or Bellatrix Lestrange, but were in fact ones in which he found himself once more in the Village Shop, The Bull or Ambridge Hall. Still, he had faced Voldemort – he could do this.
“I’ll get on with it then, sir”, Harry said. “Ron and I will go over the file right away”.
“You won’t be working with Auror Weasley on this one, Potter. Due to this terrible situation, the Ministry are loaning us one of their top Unspeakables who has extensive knowledge of the relevant areas. He’s waiting for you in room 101”.
“OK, sir”, replied Harry, and, leaving the office, made his way to the room in question. He would miss working with Ron, and hoped his new partner would be someone with whom he could share the same relationship of mutual respect and camaraderie.
