(I've changed the CMS battery, which was flat,  Good start. If it was completely flat the BIOS may have "forgotten" the boot set-up. When you switch the computer on you have to press down, usually, an F key. Trouble is it varies from pooter to pooter. Most likely suspects are F1, F2 and F12 also, sometimes Esc or Del. Once you are in you navigate, depending how old the machine is, usually with arrow keys although newer BIOS's are a bit friendlier and you can use the mouse. Don't forget to save the new setting before exiting. HTH

Please can somebody who knows about Macs (ancient laptop) tell me how I would change the toggle mode in Peet's to black and white. Peet kindly posted me a reply IN Peet's but I'm not allowed to quote it. I think I might need my Mac Man to do it - but hopefully one of you can help. TIA exxers

exxers, have you been following the thread over at my place? Assuming you're using Safari as your browser, you need to download the style sheet I linked to there, then tell Safari to use it. That'll make the PHPBB mode of my site into (mostly) black-and-white, and magnify (most of) the text.

Will copy and paste - i.e. am hyper techy. Will then do what you said. Huge thanks. exxers

Well well well. The only thread I ever started that didn't die. Looks like it might just crawl to the end. Hope people found it useful.

Will you recreate it in one or more of the new worlds?

    And leave a link?

Oh dear, tonight is developing into "The Long Goodbye". This pre-hysteric pooter has been suffering this week (The patio door didn't realize the danger it was in from me chucking laptop pooter into the ether). Many thanks for everybody's help over the years and for taking pity on this pooter numpty. What you have said is not forgotten - upgrading the memory boards will be undertaken - just as soon as client repays my travel expenses for work - which will be done just as soon as I can work out how to fill in his pooter forms which are in some prog that I can't get into .... No panic not.... I shall seek advice from clients officialdom not from here.. I'm travelling in the morning so this is my last venture here. Hope to see you in Peets...

    Thanks everyone

Further thanks, Techy (not), exxers
