Right, right.

This won't be the first thread or the last you read about this but I think this is something well worth banging on about. I though if I started this thread now then I'd have one less thing to worry about.

Or is that one fewer thing?

Less.. must be. Anyway, here are some possibles for the best albums from Jan 2000 to Dec 2009, subject to brilliant late releases this year. And there are bound to be some more.

Some early thoughts from me

Midlake - the Trials of van Occupanther
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
The National - Boxer.
Shins - Chutes Too Narrow

And I clearly need to go away and think about this some more because all of those are American. You can suggest as many as you like, and post as many times as you like. I'm just hoping for a big long list that maybe we can work into some shows towards the end of the year.

Please don't forget that Wierd Al Yankovic released records in this decade.

Off the top of my head

Joe Henry - Tiny Voices
Guillemots - Through the Windowpane
Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3 - Ole Tarantula

i need to dredge my memory as it's silted up with layers of memories from the mid 00s.

Damian Jurado - Ghost of David

now, what about the tricky problem of differing release dates? I'd like to nominate...

Calliope - (in)organics

but it was released in 1999 (in the USA) although it didn't hit these shores until 2000.

Joy Zipper - American Whip (2003)
The Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity (2005)

<Unless you like Rush albums from this decade>

They did a rather good one; it's a bit like the Ramones' "Acid Eaters" - covers of influences. Some of the songs are the same, too.

I really liked the new one by Echo and the Bunnymen, but am otherwise racking my brains as to what montages I have liked on Round Table...

If I say Dinosaur Junior, I need to add that, if I heard something by a young band that I really liked and remembered, I'd say that...

Hi Gid (and everyone else),

Inevitably, I'm going to start with The Drift by Noel Scott Engel (2006). Wouldn't it be great to hear a track off this tour de force included in your final show of the decade...

It would, though, wouldn't it? Eh?
