its a strange one. i could understand going down a division or to a promoted side but man utd obviously dont see newcastle as top opposition.

A good player but more of a 2nd striker, Newcastle need an out and out front man, and neither Rossi nor Martins provide that

Rossi is a real asset to any team - he will do wonders for newcastle. He has a quick turn and can finish well - he's a real poacher and has some creative flair taking on defenders....

i'll be cheering on newcastle when he's playing that's for sure.

United are playing with danger. They're running short on strikers unless they plan to buy somebody today.

Strange one this as ManU need another striker as back up. Rossi was ideal as back up and get experience. Although he will get that experience against Premiershup Defenders now.

Giuseppe Rossi is a great prospect. He has scored numerous goals for United's reserves and big things are expected of him in the near future. Newcastle have done well to steal him away from United until January, as I know that he is highly regarded by SAF among others. As a player he certainly has an eye for goal, although small, he has great body strength at holding the ball, a brilliant first touch and can certainly pick a pass too - as well as an awesome left foot! He is very similar to a young Paul Scholes when he first broke in to the 1st team squad at United all those years ago, before he was moved back in to a midfield role. I would expect him to do well for any club, given the opportunity, and will bring goals to Newcastle for certain. Perhaps he is not quite ready for the step up to the Premiership, but certainly possesses the attributes to become an exceptional player - may take him a few games to settle, but after that, I expect to see the best of him. You will not be disappointed - trust me.

he's been loaned for backup and we're still after another striker.

with owen out and ameobi still carrying a hip injury we need 4 strikers at the ckub, even if he's on the bench for us, its still nearer to first team actiuon than he'd get at man utd with rooney, solsjkaer, saha and smith all ahead of him.

Excelent deal for United, just like the keeper situations at watford and everton it means potential tricky teams can be strengthened when against other teams and weakend when against us, plus it'll mean rossi will get a massive amount of pitch time as long as we dont get any new striker injuries it'll be excelent and it will help his development no end.

humm not exactly the big and strong striker roeder said he wanted to partner ameobi... good to have back up, the guys got skills, but still a bit strange. if ameobe+martins are fit i see them starting, so dunno how much football he will actually get. maybe we could play him left back/centre back...

If he gets plenty of games then its good for everyone. If he comes back injured then Newcaslte are going to struggle to sign anyone in the future.

I agree, theres no way fergie would have let him go to warm your bench. Some guarantees must have been made about how much football he is going to play.

Strange decision from united though. I dont really think we have got enough back up to allow Rossi to leave till january. Im surprised to say the least

Rossi would be a regular for United if we did not have Rooney. The boy is class and only needs games to get better. Easily the best youth product to have come through the youth and reserves stage of development for us in a long time.(I know we signed hm from Parma at 17 before anyone says so). He will do well at NEwcastle. I wish we were keeping him.

Can Rossi be recalled by Man. U at any stage, or is he obliged to stay at Newcastle for the whole season?

I don't understand SAF logic.

Ruud goes, he say's Rossi will play more this season.

Rossi goes, Ole is being lined up for right midfield.

So we are now left with Saha, Rooney and Smith oh and still no replacement for Keane.

Suprised he's been allowed to leave, but until January, he can get some proper Premiership experience and can only return a better player. I wonder if United have a replacement lined up?

Then Teves and mascherano, who would have been perfect, go to west ham...and someone else mentioned THIS IS ALL CHELSEA's fault.......i've just not worked out how yet.

Rossi is a livewire, and looks like a good finisher. Not a bad move at all.

Tevez and Mascherano to West Ham?!?!!
