Great way for both Kahn and Figo to end their international careers...both leading the way and showing how it's done.

Both class, but Figo should be called to justice for the headbutt incident by FIFA

Well played, both sides, even if not started with the first XI and not finished with it at all

Now the party's going on here in Stuttgart, i hear the honking and cheering out there, so i'm going out

good evening to everyone!

What a great way for the hosts to finish their tournament, great goals from Schweinsteiger and a deserved third place. Well done Germany.

Germany played excellent football & showed they deserved 3rd place -- which is what I expected them to get, or perhaps 2nd to England. The key in this game was the referee, excellent, sporting, objective & making a great effort to be even-handed. Not so in the Portugal-England game, destined to live on in the annals of infamy, with clearly biased refereeing by an Argentinian. And guess what? Fifa rewards Elizondo by awarding him charge of the final -- as if it matters not a jot that Argentina is the Italy of South America.
Fifa would prefer an Italy win that might put Italian judges in a better frame of mind for the criminal trials to come... International football bosses are afraid of what a vigorous Italian prosecution might yet reveal about unsportsmanlike game fixing & game tipping. No surprises there: but the four billion plus fans of sport in the world deserve better than a rigged playing infrastructure.

I suppose you now intend to take a powerful dive against the British media to get them sent off?

Remind me what you wanted to do with your manager only last March? (93% of German football fans questioned wanted him sacked BEFORE the World Cup?)

Get off it, Germany outplayed you, you lost without extra time or penalties, you are no longer interesting.

Wish it were true, but with Italy in the finals, I just have to laugh at that one. France has been better, but they also have scored utilizing bogus dives as well.

Congratulations to all the germans here. Anyway I think Portuguese have reasons to be proud. Was a great game. Germany deserved to win, maybe by 2-1, but who cares? We are still proud with our team and maybe you all can learn something with us: We dont need to get scapegoats when losing, neither you see portuguese hooligans and defenetly our press is much more serious that yours. Because when it is not serious we dont believe it. Not like some of you english sore bad losers.
I hope you enjoyed this excelent game performed by two great teams.

More important than the Figo issue, what about Nuno Gomes? One chance, one goal, yet on numerous occasions when Portugal needed a goal Scolari threw on the likes of Postiga and Simao. What might have been?

Quoted from this message

Just what I thought. He's a cat among the pigeons when he comes on, he can squeeze a goal out of nowhere. Plus, Figo & Gomez have always been on the same wavelength.

At last! Some enjoyable football....

The first half was a snoozer, but the second half was much more fun. Sometimes, the third place playoff is what offers the World Cup a reprieve.

I hope they never abolish it!
