Because the referee 'dealt with the incident at the time', Figo's (albeit pathetic but nevertheless witnessed by millions of people) headbutt receives no further action. Rooney's stamp gets a 2 match ban and a pathetic fine. FIFA shows itself to be the spineless orgainization that we all know it is
great shout..
why isnt figo up
we know 100% that figo intended the head butt!!!!

Rooney needs to learn...and a ban was justified...however in world football...how actually fair is it?....whats good for the goose is good for the gander...
Figo headbutted van bommel...and got a yellow no ban...
Apart from Ronaldos world class diving...in the rooney incident..apart from asking for rooney to get sent off...he aimed a girlie head butt at rooney...no wonder he winked.
The ref..apart from treating carraghers penalty uniquely...should have blown for a foul on rooney in the same incident with carvalho...he didn't....all of the above apparently sanctioned by blatter & fifa...poor.
Rooney had a difficult tournament...but if every england hater and Ronaldo lover are going on about how wonderful poor little cristaino is...perhaps rooney can teach him how to deliver in the final ball...execution..product etc...as he is clueless at this where rooney usual is world class....and giggs and rvn have fallen out with...dive boy the portugese stuka..and they aint english...
Portugal are now seen worldwide like the diving cheating porto v celtic...and after the french boos for ladyboy..hear the german ones...to go with the dutch and the english boos....giving rooney a 10 match ban wont alter that!!!!!

As the ref only showed Figo a yellow card FIFA couldnt take any more action, if it had been red then they would have done the same for Figo as they now have for Rooney.
Lokked at the incident, read the refs report then decided the length of ban.
As it is Rooney has gotten off very lightly as the ban could have been a lot longer.

Fair punishment. 2 Game ban for a red card (right or wrong) seems about right. Why though do FIFA fine players these stupid amounts. It's like you or I being fined 10p. Oh well one less handbag for Colleen.

What options did the referee have on that one? A player can not just go there and take the penalty when he feels like it!

For me, the important thing about FIFA ruling is not about the fine or suspension but the fact that he was found guilty. What does this make those who blamed Ronaldo for the sending off?

Yah 2.4 grand sirs and a 2 month bedroom ban from colleen - she had her eyes on a £342,400 pair of shoes made from the dna of Ghandi.
He should also be banned from all OAP massage parlours indefinately and have his BMX removed for at least errrm 3 errrm weeks.
Ronaldo should have his text roaming switched off and banned from doing tortoise impressions following penalty shoot outs.

Correct. Rooney was guilty; the referee sent him off and has been awarded the final for his correctness. Ronaldo did NOT commit get booked nor should he. As for divers, one of Arsenal's divers, Henry, dived for the penalty that got themn into the final, and whio is Shearer to criricise; he got booked for diving in the finals a few years ago, saying " You try everything to get a goal" Short memories Alan.

Ronaldo will dive a few times tonight and FIFA should ban him for 10 games but they won't. At least they are planning to meet about how to resolve this problem.
Forgot to mention Ashton give the guy a chance - him and Bent could be useful. Now all McClaren needs to do is drop Lampard or Gerard and play Hargreaves?Carrick and stick to a 4-4-2.

start the clock on every pen in the shoot out...the keeper was ready and set..he had no hand up and faced carragher...it was the longest wait...the ref didn't blow...carragher took the kick..scored and the keeper does not complain and is suprised as anyone that it was retaken..so again read the post..wether you have to wait for the ref or not...why did he in these circumstances..with the players ready...delay and in the context of the penalties that had gone and were taken after treat this on uniquely..perhaps you know?????

I don't think people blamed Ronaldo for Rooney's sending off. It was his conduct prior to the game starting, his antics during the Rooney incident, followed by his winking at his bench in that 'Job Done' manner that followed Rooney's sending off.

yes rooney was found guilty but its not just the english that think ronaldo was unsporting............
Holger Osieck, head of the Fifa technical study group that picked the winner, admitted that Ronaldo's antics had harmed his case.
"We want to have decent behaviour and I admit we were critical of this," said Osieck.
"We had a number of criteria but we have to admit players of that age do have their weaknesses and are not fully developed.
"Players should be role models and fair play is a consideration."

Unfortunately under the rules they are not able to act if the ref only gives a yellow card. They can only make a ban longer if he is sent off with a red card offence.
Also FIFA can not upgrade a card as it is not allowed so Figo got a yellow only and thats it.
People can complain all they like but Figo got a yellow only and FIFA can't do anything about it under the current rules of the game.
