This is the thread to give your thoughts on Portugal's 2-0 win over Iran.

What did you think of the game? Who impressed you most? How far do you think Portugal can go in the tournament.

Give us your opinions please.

Ronaldo has to be the most over rated and selfish footballer in the world.

If united are to get back to their 99 spirit they are going to need get rid of ego players like him and buy team players.

Most impressive player- Costinha.

Portugese's creative players didn't shine as much as they should have done. Ronaldo steam

But thats the last of the poor teams they'll have to face and Portugal, like England, play much better against the better sides.

Ronaldo is the perfect example of technical skill not amounting to anything much useful. He dribbles, he juggles, he dances, and then turns the ball over. Argentina players can do that. They realize this is not the Harlem Globetrotters, but the World Cup, so they pass the ball forward, effectively, and score goals. Let Ronaldo clown around with the ball all day, just shut down the crosses. If Iran can do it, any team in the second round can as well.

I totaly agree about C Ronaldo, I would be gutted if he ever came to Arsenal. What a muppet, more intrested in his stepovers being shown on TV than helping his teamates win the match. Portugaul have looked poor to me, much like England, they are lucky to be in a weaker group.

Cristino Ronaldo is class a act. I'm not surprised England fans dont rate him cause they are not used to that kind of a player.

Portugal got out of jail due to a moment of brilliance by Deco. I'm not sure Figo was touched for the penalty - the defender looked like he pulled out at the last minute on slo-mo - and Figo just went down! Of course, Ronaldo acts like he scored the cup winning goal after the penalty - what a tosser! Most overrated player in the world cup along with namesake at Brazil!

goozie - what kind of player??? one who has no vision touch, passing of crossing ability???

Ronaldo is a one trick pony. More interested in his image than national pride.

Compare him with deco.

Ronaldo created more chances today that all England side on last game, and comparing Englands game to Portugal game both poor is just dreaming, Portugal as been playing much better then England you have to pay more intension to the games and actually watch them, but you are right Portugal can do much better, dont know about England tho, almost felt asleep in your last game, omg rubish football.

Crouch, Joe Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Owen, Walcott....hmmm that's sound like an the english team if you wanna talk about over-rated thats a good example. Roandlo looked the only player capable of scoring in that match and if not for poor luck he could have ended the match with 5 goals

Portugal are the only big team in this tournament, apart from France, who haven't played better than England so far.

Ronaldo Will get alot better as the Tournement goes on,same as alot of players ie Owen,Rooney,Ronaldinho and possibly Henry might turn up for france.

The critizing of C.Ronaldo can somtimes be way out of order,he's only 21 not everyone develops as rapidly as Rooney and Messi.

Atleast he aint as selfish as Robben is.
The only thing missing from Roni is end product, apart from that he has everything.

Unlucky Iran.
When you lack a killer touch as some of the better nations do you have to play to get a result but alas not to be.

Portugal are not one i felt can go far in this tourney as they are a clutch of players rather than a team.
I still believe that is the case

Ronaldo may be over rated and a selfish player, but he went down under some heavy tackles, and didn't pretend to be hurt in order to try to get the opponent booked. Mind you, the referees are booking people for fun, without play-acting.

Talking of referees, this one made some very dodgy decisions, but that's par for the course. Maybe if FIFA handn't told them to crack down we would see better decisions.

Absolute tosh - he wasted more chances - tried to shoot from impossible angles when his team-mates were better positioned. His 'fancy Dan' stuff led to very little as usual. He went down easily - even in instances where he could have stayed on his feet for a scoring chance. I'd have Simao and Figo on from the start - bring chrissy-boy on if they need another weapon late in games!
