Another important win for The Elephants who are almost certain now of a quarter-final place.
What did you make of the game (give your rating out of five)? Who was your man of the match? How far will Ivory Coast go in the tournament?

It's not quarter finals, but the round of 16; we have 32 teams. The BBC has made the same error in their match report. Another important win for The Elephants who are almost certain now of a quarter-final place.

Seriously just shutup.. There are 4 groups with top two teams going through.. What Round of 16? THE GROUP STAGES ALREADY CONTAIN 16 TEAMS!!
I don't even understand how BBC featured one of your comments on one of their news articles while you have such basic knowledge of African soccer.
And you have the nerve to claim BBC "has made the same error"..

i thought the libyans were proper unlucky, nearly scored an awesome goal in the 2nd half with that one touch passing move that hit the post, still youre only as good as your weakest link and when youre keeper is as weak as that youve got problems!

Thank you! I must have been thinking of the WC. Now, you only needed to make your point, not go into spewing stupid vitriol. I suppose you think that makes you a hero. My comment made it to the match report because it was considered good then, work on getting yours out too. I doubt you'll manage though with such crass posts Seriously just shutup.. It is heartning to see the Ivorian Elephants set aside the problems of their country to score victory on the football arena. Drobga and co must be commended for playing as a cohesive team and hopefully their triumph to the next round of the nations Cup will mark a significant step that would rally the valiant Ivorians to the preservation of La Cote d'Ivoire. On another note the African Cup of Nations is turning out big surprises! Definitely the Nigerian Eagles and the Lions of Cameroun have reasserted to a degree their claim to supremacy in African soccer following their disappointing exit from the World Cup.. Both have won all their opening matches and poised to excel in the knock out rounds. Another delightful surprise is Guinea's Syli Nationale whose victories over Zambia, South Africa and the defending African Champions, Tunisia (3-0) catapult them to the elite of African performers. In contrast Ghana, Togo, and Angola may need to work hard if they are to make positive impression in the World Cup later this year. Thganks! Wurie Jalloh

Football in the nations cup is bowing to the dictum that the game is full of inponderables! Judging by the way Senegal managed to barely qualify from their group it was a big shock to see the Terranga Lions put on the show and eliminate a delightful Guinean team 3-2 in the quarter finals. One cannot but be sorry for a dazzling Guinean Syli suddenly overtaken by a Senegalese squad that suddenly seems to recover the kind of flair that made them heroes in the last world cup. Nevertheless, it is sport and the prayer is may the better side always win. Good show! Wurie Jalloh Lynn, USA yeah, i'll put my $$$ on that.

What a fateful messageI Ivory Coast in the end missed the grand-prix of African football but not for lack of valiant effort. The Ivorian Elephants 'tuseked'-off elite teams in African soccer with a game that was laced part determination, part skill but almost always with a modicum of fairplay. The Ivorians showed great love for their country despite the political divide and did their best as a cohesive team to seal a victory for their fractured motherland on the soccer field and got denied at the brink by mother fate. Nevertheless, les Elephants are a testament to the positive results in store when any game game is played with the esprit du corps of genuine team work, love of the game and respect for the opponent. Alomost always it the pleasure of victory or just for the effort of a job well doneesult. Bravo to the Elephats and may Ivoirian Unity be truly restored. Bravo to the Ivorian President for giving each player of the team from both sides in the Ivorian tragedy a house. Wurie Jalloh, Lynn, USA
