These players have got to pretty fit to play at this tempo and in reasonably high temperatures. Still great entertainment!
Is Barakat as good as many say he is? Do you expect a move to a big European side soon? Which teams do you think would suit him?

Tarek El Taib is on for the Libyans, maybe things will change.
Sounds like a good atmosphere in Cairo - anyone been to an Egyptian game?

With Mido at Spurs, I think that would seem like the best move. Although midfield vacancies at all four of the big clubs are few.

Good start for Egypt, but I see them struggling through this group. They don't look as good.

So a resounding win for Egypt - what did you make of the game? Do you agree with some posters on here, that they'll find it tough to get through the group or will this win give them the morale boost they need to progress?

Eqypt never really looked in trouble. Looking forward to tomorrow's game between Morocco and Ivory Coast. This group is touch and go with Morocco, Ivory Coast and Egypt all serious contenders to win the tournament outright.

God Job Egypt, but we all knew about the win way ahead, with all recpect for libya and all of there players but lybia is not a challange!!
If Egypt wins the NEXT 2 matches they will have 60% of holding the cup. If they beat Morocco & Cote d'Ivoire (IVC) in there upcoming matches.
what you guys think?

A good result for Egypt, but I think the Pharoahs were disappointing against perhaps the weakest team in this African Cup of Nations 2006. No quality football, no flair or imagination, plenty of missed passes, lack of aggressive and positive play in front of goal. They will have to improve significantly if they are to beat Morocco and especially the Ivory Coast. Even though eliminated in the group stage, the egytian team in Tunisisa 2004 played much better football.

Hi All.
First of all, I'm Egyptian, and I just want to comment on some of your messages:
1- Maybe it's considered warm in Europe, but 11 degrees Celsius is considered darn cold down here. I'm saying that because I read a post admiring the pace of last night's game considering the "reasonably high temperature". Just wanted you to know that those players would be freezing at that temperature if they didn't keep running all the game.
2- I enjoyed the win but to tell you the truth the performance was crap. I don't think Egypt has any chance to win this tournament unless all the other teams are completely out of form. Lybia is a very weak team and the scoreline should have been much bigger. The real test would be against Morocco and The Ivory Coast.
3- Commenting on Barakat's move to a european club, I really doubt it very much, I don't even know how this guy got that BBC african player of the year award. Barakat is a good player against local teams here in Egypt or against african clubs who export most of their talents to europe but he can never play for a european side. He had a spell in the gulf area with saudi and quatari teams and he was a total failure. I even doubt he'll put up good displays with the Egyptian NT during this tournament.
4- Finally, there is a mistake in the match report. Barakat was not the one who was brought down in the area for the penalty to be given...it was another player named "Amr Zaki" who was the second striker alongside Mido
