The so-called sting on Sven is a load of rubbish from a self-righteous press. Sven is not an idiot and plans for the future. He would not be successful as a manager if he did not. So if he speculates what he will do after the world cup, this is perfectly normal and acceptable.

If he does lead England to victory at the world cup, it would be reasonable for him to look at the next thing he wants to achieve in his career. If he fails, it is possible that the FA would think about replacing him anyway and he would need to be prepared for that too.

I have no doubt that he is perfectly capable of concentrating on the England team as much as is required until the end of the world cup. He is entitled to speculate on other possibilities all of the time - anyone with any sense should always consider other possbilities - it does not mean disloyalty. No-one owns Sven, no-one should own anybody.

This is a non-story and is just to sell newspapers. If the News of the World really cared about what happens to the England team, they would not be printing material likely to destabilise the position.

Instead of implying that Sven is being disloyal, the News of the World should look at its own loyalty to the England team.

Agreed. I wrote something along similar lines earlier but couldn't post as message board was closed. This post said everything I wanted to say and more. The lowlife at the NOTW are disloyal by aiming to disrupt England's preparations for this Summer. A total disgrace and should be ignored by any true fan.

The news of the world are cruel. Their the people who should be ashamed. But unfortunatly Sven has been very naive. This can only be a negative efect for Englands world cup hopes.

Interesting from a villa standpoint but can't understand why an apparently english newspaper would do this in the build up to a world cup, disgrace!

i fully agree with the first post in this thread.

to be honest i can't stand SGE and his tactics, but he's been pulled a dirty trick by this so called newspaper. he's got every right to plan his future after the world cup... although looking at the amount of money he's getting i wonder why he would want to leave his current job in the first place...

I'm surprised that anyone is outraged by how low NOTW can go. This is not a serious paper, it's half joke and half jazzmag. They even have to create their own stories since they're incapable of finding any genuine ones.

with the way that the british press is... I would probably do the same thing!!! If england did win the world cup what motivation would keep you there??? go out on a high and say "stuff you" to the press....

the only bit i do disagree with is that he said he would go and manage a club "like aston villa" obviously lost the plot there!!!!

Only in the UK do we put up with gutter press! The only way to make them stop feeding us crap is to stop buying the paper! They are not serving our best interest; they just want an easy story with out any imagination!

They will try to tell us Sven has no loyalty and so doesn't deserve the job! But who in football & the press does have loyalty, we all would choose better pay & conditions if offered!

The Sun got it wrong over Hillsborough, and is rarely bought in Liverpool; only by following this example will they learn.

Boycott the gutter press! Rupert Murdoch has long held a different agenda in this country, and is always attacking the British.

Well said Conehead Gunner.

Some things never change, such as the tabloids sensationalising things that are not even news.

one other thing - why should he be loyal to england AFTER the world cup - he was brought in for that and has no loyalty to England as he is obviously Swedish.

And after stuff like this - why would he stay?

I think its dishonourable to set up the manager like that, and its a wonder anyone wants the job with how our press treat them, but come on, you can't condone the England manager talking about tapping up our players for his potential future club. He's there in video asking the fictituous future Villa owners to match his England salary in order for him to take over after the World Cup (2 years before his England contract runs out).

I'd like to see how much the Germans bought the NOTW for and whether it will change its name to Das Neus of Ze Vurld.

Fingers crossed on another player boycott of the gutter press.

Everyone know that the NOTW is just a sensationalist comic with dubious ethical and moral standards, but they should be taken to task for their use of a patently troubled "journalist/investigative reporter" who entraps people for no other reason than that they are more famous than he is. What a disturbed childhood this "fake sheik" must have had, if this is what he needs to do in an attempt to demonstrate his superiority to disparate celebrities. And how sad that his peers encourage his activities, like the playground gang egging on the school fallguy, in the knowledge that if it all goes wrong in some way, they can say it wasn't them, sir!
