RIP George, you are a true legend and will never be forgotten for what you did for the game.

Thoughts are with George's friends and family.

As a Bournemouth fan it was a privelage to see Best join our club, his talent was unrivalled and clearly he's one of the best of all time.

Goodbye to a legend. Unfortunately I am too young to have seen him in his heyday but from what I have seen and been told on numerous ocassions he was the best the world has seen. No doubt Sir Matt Busby will be waiting for him.

I feel privilged to be old enough to see him play even if it was not in his heyday.

Saw him play for Fulham at Molineux (80's I think) and although we won 4-1 he oozed class.

RIP and condolences to his family and friends

Saints fan here.

Just like to say that I met the man last year at one of his speaking gigs. The man was absolutely dripping in charisma, massively self depricating and brutually honest. He was obviously a massively troubled bloke and I think that he suffered from the media frenzy around him in the same way Gazza did. The differrence being is taht Gazza was always a soft target and George's intelligence has always stopped people from feeling sorry that he was made into a side show exhibit.

R.I.P To a man blessed with god given talent, a quick mind and a bloke who had time for people. No regrets for his life as he had a bloody good ride!

One of those players i wish i had the pleasure of watching live but even just based on the highlights i have seen its clear he was a footballing genius.

Ive watched him on many a weekend as a pundit on soccer saturday and he came across as nothing but a complete gentlemen.

One thing that should happen is complete silence before every game this weekend in memory of a great player and a great man.

Three cheers for George Best.

I had the good fortune of seeing George Best play and he was quite simply one of the best forwards of all time. His dribbling skills and technique at an amazing speed made him the terror of defences of the time. One of the true giants of the game, one that will forever live in our memories.

I remember when he scored 6 goals in 1970 against Northampton when we won 8-2. Maybe the greatest individual performance ever for a Manchester United player.

I will remember him as the first "celebrity superstar footballer".

He was always a man of extremes and whatever he did he wanted to be the BEST whether it was on the pitch or on the town. Born May 22 1946, he lived true to his star sign Gemini:

Gemini THE TWINS is the sign of the storyteller, the communicator Geminis are widely known for their dual personalities and ability to change mood from moment to moment. Although they hate to be tied down, they make lively, entertaining and romantic partners, even if they can be rather fickle if bored or unhappy.

Greatest footballer I ever saw play and probably the reason why I started supporting United some 40 years ago.

Thanks for the memories George. A true legend!
