Lets hope these things do come in threes. That end has been closed for three days. Day 1: Dig up about a foot of surface adjacent to the kerb. Day 2: Raise a single manhole cover. Day 3: The big boys arrive to do the remaining 90% of the work. And do a side street at the same time. And I nearly forgot - the playing field of the local primary school backs onto the street as well. They've decided to replace the existing 4' high wooden palisade fence with a 6' high "green powder coated" metal grille fence - and have started the works at the same time. So add a couple of pick-up trucks to the mix as well...(Darn! This blog doesn't handle definition lists or nested unordered lists correctly...and it appears to ignore blockquotes as well...) Slightly concerned that it won't make it; less bothered about getting back. (My case comes up next week!) Her age may be part of the reason for her selection, but her relative inexperience - having been through the Strictly process as a contestant, she's likely to empathise with the contestants. However, especially in light of the online reaction to her appointment, it would probably be worthwhile giving her some training beforehand - for example commenting on clips from various international versions of Strictly so that when she goes "live", she can deliver a credible, concise comment (perhaps doling out constructive criticism - asking particularly the poorer couples to concentrate on one area they could conceivably progress on in the following week), so giving both the public, professionals and celebrities the impression she has brains as well as beauty! It's also worth noting that in the final three weeks, Darcy Bussell (former prima ballerina) will also join the judging team - which should help boost the knowledge and experience of the panel in the crucial final stages of the contest, and hopefully avoid a repeat of the ties encountered in last year's contest. Her enthusiasm for the programme is contagious and she has a real desire to see celebrities improve and put on a spectacular show. There can only be one reason which is even less forgivable when the programme host definitely doesn't reflect the tastes of the younger audience the BBC says it is targeting. Hopefully Alisha won't simply look pretty and make kind but useless comments. Sun 12 Jul 2009 10:01:42 GMT+1
