well done. my dad just bought a tenor and rather than explaining all the keys one by one, your fingering chart is helping bigtime.

Thank you much for the introduction. I am planning on taking on a new hobby - playing the sax. Clueless until now as to what I should look out for, price, etc. This is a good itnroduction. I'm all fired up now. I'll keep you posted with my progress... as soon as i buy one.

Cool explanation!
I'm going to pilfer my lodger's sax when I get home and teach myself.
Gnomon, I like to consider myself a musician, but good God you seem to know a lot about music! What do you do for a living?

Hi Bebel, I can assure you my work is nothing to do with music. Music is just what I do in my spare time. Glad you like the sax entry.

Well, the year is 2005 and people are still reading your article. That is one of the many good things about the guide, if this post was on a forum, it would beburried by now under tons of posts. So, this article will live for ever! (until the Vogons come)
Anyways, I thought you would want to know that your article still helps people, all the way south here, in ARGENTINA!

cheers mateok ok ok

And they're still reading it (well I am, anyway) in 2006!!! As the others said, this is great. I had never held a sax before I found your article - now I can play a scale and a few simple tunes (well, I think it's OK, anyway!) Thanks very much Gnomon
