A section of the Pennsylvania Dutch community is being prosecuted in the States for their refusal to put traingular hazard reflectors on their horse drawn buggies; www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,712200,00.html for the whole story. Sorry I can't do it as a link, but that's the Guardian for you.
My father visted Pennsylvania Dutch territory a number of years ago. He was impressed by their quiet dignity and perseverance. He was also impressed with the film Witness, wherin they Amish are given respect and a genuine point of view, which was very unexpected in a Hollywood movie, I must say.
That part of the state is where I received my last speeding ticket for going 70 in a 55mph zone.
Mind you I was being passed at the time by a tanker truck hauling liquid sulphur. But I guess my speed in a Datsun hatchback was much more dangerous to public safety!
Those buggies can be frightening if you come upon one after dark on a winding road, but forcing them to do the orange triangle thing is just wrong.
