Hello, I am a big fan of the British comedy of the 1980's and 90's 'Allo 'Allo. It was being broadcasted here in the U.S. on PBS and then one day it was gone. I e-mailed PBS and asked them when they might be showing it again and they told me that they had lost the broadcasting rights to the show. I was dismayed because I love the show. I looked around to see if I could buy the episodes on video, but they are only available on PAL and we use VHS. I finally found a website where I could purchase 12 of the episodes. I would like to know if the show is being shown on a regular basis in the U.K. on the BBC. If anyone has any information, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

"'Allo 'Allo" used to be shown on a Saturday evening on BBC1, and sometimes an episode is shown in this slot to fill up space, though not as often recently I find. "'Allo Allo'" is often repeated on the English non-terrestrial channel "UK Gold", where you can find other beauties such as "Are you being served?" and "Dad's Army". Hoorah!
I feel for you that you cannot get it in the US, though I remember watching "Keeping up appearances" in Florida once, on a channel where Friday nights were British comedy nights. You should get in touch with them, I can't remember the name of the channel, but I bet they'd fight for the right to show "'Allo 'Allo". It had kids programmes in the morning, one of which was about a station, where Ringo Starr was a tiny station mananger, and it showed episodes of "Thomas the tank engine". Long live Ringo!

The problem isn't the discrepany between PAL and VHS, btw, it's between PAL and NTSC, the differing broadcast standards applied by UK and US television. VHS is a standard throughout the world.
We can normally get round that with a NTSC capable TV and a SCART lead here in the UK, enabling us to watch US videos, so you might be able to do the same in the US though I imagine the market for a PAL capable TV would be smaller...

If anyone can get their hands on PAL formatted tapes, there are places that will convert them... for a fee of course.
My problem is finding any tapes- only 4 are being sold here.
Anyone have a suggestion on where to get PAL tapes, or better yet, DVD's, as previously mentioned?

I would imagine that the whole series has been available at one time on PAL video-look at Amazon and E-bay would be my first suggestions.

What website did you find the ntsc versions of 'Allo 'Allo on ? Was the DVD released ?I found the shows hilarious, though
I was never able to view a complete story-line in Jamaica, and had given up hope of seeing them here in the USA.
Thanks in advance
