Not only did Buster, Paul O-Grady's dog die this year but so did Buster Roy Hattersley's dog die recently. He mentioned it on Any Questions on Radio 4 this week.

Kim Peek has died.

An amazingly "differently-abled" man - and a truly inspiring story.
"He would read eight books a day, taking just ten seconds to read a page. He could read two pages simultaneously, his left eye reading the left page and his right eye reading the right page."
Wow!!!

Yes, reading that made me realise that despite his talents shown, the film Rain Man did him no justice at all.
If you find Kim Peek's abilities inspiring then you may also be interested to read about Daniel Tammet - another man with astounding abilities.

Goodnight TC

Thank you for the Tammet link - it combines two of my fascinations ... savants and synaesthesia I have bookmarked it and look forward to reading his blog.
The Aspergers link interests me - I heard a show on the radio about autistics which postulated that some autistics/Aspergers (there are many different levels of autism and it is not fully understood) should not be looked on as mentally disabled - they simply think differently and can be taught to use their different ability to their advantage. We can learn from them about the incredible range of talents possible.
