>>Not saying that was completely unhelpful... but, umm, so...
What amuses you? Or makes you think?
What are some of your recommendations? That's usually a good way to go about this.<<
The trouble to answering this is I will give anything a go.
One book I remember that both tied my mind in knots and amused me was Terry Pratchett: Thief of time
I dont enjoy all his books, but now and then I dont mind him
Someone gave me an autobiography once of a girl whos name I sadly cannot remember, but the book was called A Chinese Cinderalla. I remember that book made me asses myself a little more.
And I always liked the orginal Phillip K Dick book better than the Bladerunner movie- has some ridiculous title like 'Do androids dream about eletric sheep'.
Robert Rankin for confusion induced thinking, and the late great Douglas Adams.
Stephen King for the odd bit of trashy horror.
etc
I dont read as often as I'd like to due to my fading financial situation, and I always seem to be very behind what everyone else is readins so - no se.
If its new and popular I likely as not havent heard of it and wont for another few years.
I think that about covers most of what you asked
How was the book signing Nuke?

UPDATE:
So far the Adam's bio is good. It kinda compiles stuff that I've read in other sources and is generally well-written.

Finished. Same as above all throughout really.
Re-reading "Last chance to see" now. If you (anybody...YOU!) have not read it DO SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW! I mean it! Go!
Neal Stephenson's two books that he wrote under "Stephen Bury" have been re-released as books by Neal Stephenson. I read 'The Cobweb. Don't know why I never did, before.

Any good? Or rather, how good?
Very great. Very Stephenson...kinda.
It doesn't get as fanciful, if that's the right word, as, well, ALL of his other books. It's pretty much a thriller set in the time before the 1991 Gulf War, so it's more plausible than most of his other books.
Frighteningly plausible.
But it in no way loses any of his dark humor, and as far as I'm concerned, is right up there with his best.
I have yet to get ahold of 'Interface', but the hunt is on.
Will advise.

Just finished 'The Blind Watchmaker' by Richard Dawkins. Very good book. One chapter felt out of place but generally an entertaining and interesting essay on evolution. I enjoyed his kind of conversational-but-scientific writing style.
I've read "The Selfish Gene" by same. Pretty good. I don't at all agree with his point of view, but it was still readable to the point where I could sympathize.
Currently reading 'Carlucci', by Richard Paul Russo. Collection of three books. Guess that would make it a trilogy.
Cyberpunk noir detective genre. A lot like Richard Morgans books, but not so Sci-fi. Very enjoyable, nonetheless. Good hard fast pace. Bladerunner-esque, if you will.
Still waiting for Morgan's third book in his series. C'mon, September!
wow no one has been here for a year
Hey. You're that cheese guy. Watch your head in here; lot's of low pipes.
This is my book reading space. Haikeeba moved to Japan, and isn't really around anymore.
You like reading?
a bit
Cool. I guess Douglas Adams brought you here. Any favorites?
Authors, genres, whatever.
not paticularly
Made you a badge. I'm a co-founder, so I can do that.

Or at least shunned in polite society
