Sounds like you are having a great trip. Your mention of Poundbury brings to mind Seaside, Florida, which Prince Charles singled out some 20 years ago for its traditional plan and buildings. He even had a house built in his honor, designed by Leon Krier. You don't hear much of the Krier brothers these days, the other being Rob, but they were very instrumental in the revival of traditional planning and architecture, and Leon Krier was regarded as the inspiration for Seaside, as Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk consulted him and had him take an active role in the planning phase of the town.
http://www.seasidefl.com/Seaside seemed to start with small ambitions, using the so-called Florida "Cracker" house as the building block of the small village, but quickly gained international attention and has now grown into a veritable "five-star" resort, replete with antebellum mansions lining one of its pedestrian streets. Duany said he never intended to limit the village to simple houses, but the east half of the town, where these houses were first built is far more human than the west half that is dominated by neo-classic wood houses, replete with a wood obelisk that appears to be a cross between the Eiffel Tower and Washington Monument. Many famous architects have built houses there, but the original houses were "contractor houses," which followed the building codes set by Duany and Plater-Zyberk.
When I first designed a house at Seaside, back in '84, plots were selling at $7000, but the last available plot sold for half a million dollars. Great investment, but far away from the traditional seaside village it appeared to be originally envisioned as. Seems like getting Prince Charles involved raises the scale of a project nearly 100 fold, although it seemed his heart was in the right place.

I am answering to your letter because in it, you offer me a possibility to put in context the built-in opportunity to reach Prince Charles' interest, within the mapping that's been accomplished by articulating my vision with Minciu Sodas and the EU Knowledgeboard since last year.
I have joined the Minciu Sodas lab last year through the Loving God yahoo groups. I somehow quickly found myself guided to meet up on line with Chris Macrae through information that Andrius freely distributed on the lab's board.
I had been moving on the Internet and via emailing intensively since Sept 2001 with an initiative to counter-act the entity of terror-anti-terror from Canada, named: "...cleansing our vision of the Crown..."
It is a "grand vision" to grow the Faculty of Living where all other
faculties come into service of one another to build Humanity's Recovery Road from self-destruction to self-control and community self-government.
It is rooted in the Organic Experience of Spiritual Unity and made to bring in focus the Sciences of Spiritual Hygiene where power's nature is love and wisdom driven into the inspiration of personal and communal Justice-Peace-Joy, within the prime directive to host love with grace and truth in all manners of contact. conduct and decision-making.
Since meeting with Andrius Kulikauskas and Chris Macrae, my focus
of...cleansing our vision of the Crown... has increased in the micro-macro mapping of the socio-economic correctional transformation, via the culture of a healthy life-time education.
This means that the initiative is taking the shape needed to accommodate the Crown of the Commonwealth to become a lenses with which to ease into focus the Faculty of Living, for all of humanity to behold with the site of a sight, where we witness the birth of a mature people of all people. The natural Aboriginal-French-English tensions of 4 centuries have prepared Canada to host the meeting of history in harmony with destiny, so as to surf upon the challenges presented within the currency of times.
For developed countries, these social challenges are going to be met by the rise of the Personal Sector who invites the public sector out of official secrecy and the private sector from out of the codes of silence.
To launch the promotional strategy, we will emerge on the air of public broadcasting in the UK, Canada, Australia and the US, with a
docu-dramatization of the movement that hosts the highest levels of
decision-makers, to meet and to work along with the movement toward health of the underground populations.
This reality begins with an episode titled: "From domestic oppression to domestic health." This episode goes from one family's struggle with domestic violence and moves to unveil, episode after episode, the universal understanding of how the breeding of violence operates and how we deal with it anywhere from home to armed conflicts and wars.
These episodes are under the heading of the first chapter called: "Quest for Home". This chapter sets the pace for the next one in which the host of the series meets with Prince Charles and invites him to take on the role of co-host until all is safe and secure for the project to cruise.
So this second chapter is made of all the complexities on how this can be done withi n official protocols. Such boldness will most likely call for the creation of whole new diplomatic protocol development, which I believe my work to be mapping. The name of this chapter is NAF and the Prince.
Prince Charles then generates the popular spreading of the Faculty of Living with the help found from the renewal spirit of service and co-operation amongst all faculties.
The next chapter is where Price Charles completes the sight of ...cleansing our vision of the Crown... along with his own adaptation to the new realities of sustainable development; it is called: "The pilot of the Universe-City". This is where the connection between Global Villages will be fined tuned to flow like a cleansing river across the globe.
Although this vision has been growing in me since I was 8 years old, apart from my wife and children, the greatest encouragement that I've received so far have been from working here at Minciu Sodas and from being allowed to speak up by the likes of Chris Macrae, Andrius Kulikauskas, Anders Abrahamsson, Jeff Buderer, Franz Nahrada, Janet Feldman and all the many others who seek to complete one another's vision and work in the open, on the Public Domain.
The turning point of this vision of mine, when I began to feel like I was being heard, has been when I wrote a letter to George Bush and then to her majesty, queen ElisabethII, as the Defender of the Faith for the Commonwealth.
That was when some people on the Internet thought that it was worth some attention. And so, since May 2005, I have operated on my basis of a "stay-at-home-dad-citizen-voter" from Canada, seeking to contribute into the global citizenship needed to be cultivated and spread from the ground that can host humanity's underground transformation, with the complete participation of the highest decision-makers.

Hello Benoit,
I'm not sure how Prince Charles fits into your idea of "...cleansing our vision of the Crown..." but then maybe I'm reading this too literally. The search for spirituality in architecture and planning is a complex one. I suppose you can look at this in terms of Gaia or Mother Earth, or to ground it in regionalism, where one can draw more immediate spiritual connections.
I like to view architecture in organic terms, not being specific to any one religion.
I have my reservations about Prince Charles. I guess it goes back to when he so thoroughly dismissed modern architecture without taking what a considered to be a very close look at it. He was instrumental in this return to traditional roots, which has its positive and negative sides.
Places like Seaside have devolved into kitsch and inspired Disneyland forms of these traditional villages. But, then I wonder if Seaside and other traditional villages were in part inspired by Disney's Main Street.
I'm looking for something deeper than a return to traditional forms, a sense of planning, spatial design and green consciousness that doesn't have to take on any specific form, but is wedded to the site in a harmonious fashion. In this sense I have looked at the work of such diverse architects as Hassan Fathy to Le Corbusier and a number of architects in between.

I am in full agreement with your approach to tradition's need for renewal. I apologise for any confusion.
Thanks for mentioning about not being sure where Prince Charles fits is in, in relation to ...cleansing our vision of the Crown...
It is in the personification that he can embody, to promote history and destiny's meeting, balanced into intelligence and wisdom at work to move toward the new tradition without tipping the boat over in the way the French revolution did.
With the blessing of the British Crown, I suggest that we simply give rise from its social fabrics, to a socio-cultural affirmation of yes where needed in the political evolution with the economic improvisation to move within the currency of times, into the dynamics from the sciences of spiritual hygiene, upon the state of The Faculty of Living.
This speaks of an invitation for renewal, where Prince Charles and his
personal life would embody the gradual and steady move to preserve the past that moves the present forward, in the direction that does offer a sustainable future.
Perhaps if you read my letter to her majesty again, while keeping in mind that it comes on the sole basis of myself, being simply one voting citizen stat-at-home-dad, who lives under her headship, like all other citizens of the Commonwealth, to her, being the Defender of the Faith and the Head of State of the nation where I live, then hopefully you can perceive the potential of Canada to host a correction line to be developed and deployed on a scale, inclusive of all humanity, away from the rails of the entity of terror-anti-terror. Interesting letter, Benoit. I didn't notice the link the first time so it helped clarify what you said in the post, to some degree anyway. Things have seemed to work out better in Canada, in terms of intermixing, than they have in the US. In America, it seems we are regressing each day into a pre-Civil Rights era that deeply troubles me. I can only hope that the midterm elections will unseat the regressive-minded Republicans in Congress, who seem anything but Republican these days. In the meantime, I continue to enjoy my extended stay in Vilnius, which is fast closing on the 9th year.
The Royal family does seem much more pro-active these days, minus the
shenanigans of Harold. But, I suppose at his age he is allowed a few
digressions. After all, Prince Charles was quite the playboy in his youth, but seems to have become more wise in age. William has impressed me very much with his more quiet demeanor and seemingly noble intentions. I hope that he continues to move forward in this way.

This is all true Markus...(but first reader, you need to know what Markus said; so here it is)
A point of info about "the crown" is that it referrs
to the government of the UK and Canada in this case.
So Prince Charles is not part of that as his mother is
ruling not him. ALso the monarchy is detached from
direct governance in the UK and Canada - which may not
be so in other countries. Charles has to take a
position of neutrality on political matters, but the
government of course is political and PARTY political.

My answer to Markus carries on with:

There was a legal precedent that happened in Alberta, Canada which opens a constitutional window for the Monarchy to return on the active scene of decision making, even if it was only a temporary measure of diplomatic emergency or something like it, as long as the protocol connects directly within the current settings of democracy's movements of transition toward a better life for all.
Consider how much the UK and Canada, indeed the whole of the Commonwealth along with the Francophony are poised to, either blossom for the whole of the human race with a renewed process of wealth distribution, or to just fade away, under the Asian blanket that will sweep the earth, sooner or later.
You are right to point out that Charles does not wear the Crown. To invite him and not the queen is precisely to insure the whole point of ...cleansing our vision of the Crown... Here's what I mean.
Based upon a lingering past into our social fabrics of an abusive
colonization, the blessing of the queen goes with Charles to Canada, for the dismantling of king and queen, clearing the path along with Mr. George Bush and Vatican's parallel repentance, for humanity's Faculty of Living into the Crown of equality in the spiritual brotherhood and sisterhood of all who wish it, where the global village may spread from, in all of its simple and genuine Crown in the solemn beauty of being human.
Renewal begins with repentance and my invitation is to launch one movement of repentance with the universal scope in view.
