Did I tell you what I noticed about Mary Louise Parker?

In Fried Green Tomatoes, she plays a heterosexual woman who is the the object of another woman's affection. An abusive husband gets murdered, and later there is a trial. A murder conviction is avoided by a witness who makes a minor lie (the preacher swearing on a copy of Moby Dick instead of the bible). Then Mary Louise Parker's character dies from a long, slow illness. An excellent movie.

In Boys On The Side, she plays a heterosexual woman who is the the object of another woman's affection. An abusive husband gets murdered, and later there is a trial. A murder conviction is avoided by a witness who makes a minor lie (Mary Louise says, "If I'm lying, may I be struck dead by some terrible disease."). Then Mary Louise Parker's character dies from a long, slow illness. An excellent movie.
