| | Mina's House of Agony | |
My real name is Linda, but these days it seems more like Linda is the name I use when I don't want people knowing my real name. Please call me Mina! I am a Dog Walker in Brentwood, Essex. You can follow my progress on my Diary of a Dog Walker blog, or that of my own dogs on Fred's blog - A Dog Named Fred. I am usually to be found hiding from my Stuff to Do pile - a ridiculous number of my journals are me trying to talk myself into Dealing with The Stuff. Having had a good sort out, I now have Regular Stuff to Do Regularly, and the less important Interesting Stuff I'd like to Do when the RStDR is gone which Let's Face It May Never Happen. A short h2g2 history. I joined h2g2 in Sept 99, and promptly forgot about it for 6 months. When I rediscovered it, I moved in, made friends who I got very drunk with as often as possible but never as often as I would have liked, then bothered the staff for a job, which lasted not quite two years. I came back as a 'normal' Researcher and just got generally Very Angry about Things Not Being Done Right and drove all my friends away. I took a step back (occasionally leaning forward to see if h2g2 still Made me Angry) for a while. Recently I seem to have lost all that Angryness that was making me so unhappy, and probably everyone around me as well, so I'm making a comeback (although I did get quite snippy with someone recently, that wasn't about h2g2 itself so I am Not Too Worried at the moment). Please bear with my while I rebuild my PS.

I hate people who bounce cheques and I hate banks that take THREE BLOODY WEEKS to tell me cos I've got another 3 cheques banked that might well bounce too.
There's a reason I hate taking jobs from the estate I live on. In fact there is two.
1. They are NEVER IN at the time they've made the appointment for me to come and see them and I always have to come back.
2. They ALWAYS go on about how much it costs.
From now on I'm going to do what I wanted to do to start with. Just tell people I don't cover this area.
Annoyed Cat Person 2 Hours Ago
Cat breeder rang up and wanted to book me for her holidays, which is great experience for me and a very good reference for all those kitty-cats she's selling to people who might need a cat sitter.
Sadly she's too far away, but got very snotty when I told her I only covered Brentwood - not towns 15 miles away. Apparently Google bring me up as covering 'all over Essex'. I can't find anywhere on my website that says that.
I also can't seem to find my magic teleporting device that would enable me to cat sit (or dog walk as I get lots of those too) anywhere in Essex and still make a living.

Today's list - most of which I will ignore I spect 3 Days Ago
Write winter newsletter
Do cat sit
Wait in until the last minute for the windscreen man, only for him to turn up as it starts raining and say he can't do it because it's raining.
Finish homework - ie stop fiddling around trying to make it look nice and then fitting the words into the pretty boxes. Listen to Jimster - write it, THEN get it right (and pretty) so I can laminate it and feel all swotty.
Write winter newsletter again
Fire up J's birthday laptop and take off all the shite, add on all the time limits with me as admin ready for Tuesday
Work out how the hell I'm going to get all the dogs walked next week when it's all looking a bit over-crowded.
sort out my new colour wireless 3-in-1 printer I bought on spur of the moment and probably paid well OTT for, but it's black and nearly as shiney as my other printer (b&w only), which I bought when I went shopping for a wireless 3-in-1 but was seduced by the shininess of it
Write winter newsletter properly
Hugely enjoy the pleasure of walking My Own Dogs this afternoon because they pretty much do what I say and make me Look Good instead of incompetent
Try to fit pics of dogs into newsletter now printer is up and running and so have to rewrite it
How many hours in a day? 24? What?
Update on Stuff to Do. 5 Days Ago
None. No update. It's back, it's looking mean, and my filing drawer has now spilled over into filing drawers.

The rain it raineth while I'm walking about outside and not while I'm in the van all cosy Last Week
Got home, quick change of socks, boots, waterproofs and coat and I've got to go out again.
Currently the sun is shining, and it's all lovely out there. But my last walk started like that (I even had my on!) and within 15 mins the rain fell as if, well, as if it RAINED REALLY HARD and it was so windy it was coming sideways. Struggle to the van, stand there getting wetter while trying to dry off two actually quite scared dogs a bit, hop in and the rain stops and the sun comes out.
