| | Hello There | |
Thanks for dropping by...It may be humble but it's home. I am a hormonally hampered 52 year old wife, vegan, mother of two, a carer for my autistic son, and a part-time Open University immature student. When I'm not studying and if I can stay awake long enough, I like to walk my pooches, read books or listen to audio novels and BBC Radio 4 and avoid housework. It is my intention to age disgracefully! My daughter has flown the nest and is a freelance illustrator and animator. Her portfolio is here. We reside in the UK and share our home with three dogs, eight cats, lots of houseplants and my hubby's motorcycles (or bits of them). I belong to the h2g2 Vegetarian Society. Then of course, there's G.A.S.. Need I say more?

It is the 1st anniversary of the death of my , soul mate and familiar, Jess and yesterday I had to have one my , Monty put to sleep. I have mixed emotions at the moment. Relief that Monty is no longer fading away and suffering in front of my eyes, but sadness because he was such a lovely cat and I will him terribly.
I have buried Monty under the Elder by our garden gate, which was one of his favourite shady spots during the summer months.
Our garden is turning into a pet cemetery, but being as how it backs on to an old, beautiful and disused graveyard, it is hardly inappropriate.
Cobwebs Oct 8, 2006
I have dusted and removed the cobwebs.
Hopefully I am back on a more permanent basis now that I have finished my college course and had my brain cell surgically removed. (I had a hysterectomy and other 'stuff' fixed at the end of the summer, so now all I have to cope with is being chucked into the menopause at the deep end).
Homework? <yikes> Oct 2, 2005
Last week I started a part-time business administration and bookkeeping college course in a nearby town and will be there two days per week. I hope to be allocated an unpaid work placement in a few weeks time which will then be an additional day per week 'spoken' for.
The college has threatened me with lots of course work, which might mean that I may not find time to play on hootoo as often as I would like but where there's a will there's a way an' all that sort of rot.
What worries me more is that I won't be able to stay awake in college and their refectory's is awful! I feel the need for a thermos flask might be in the offing...
This time... Aug 14, 2005
Right then! This time I really do intend to visit hootoo more frequently.
One of those weeks... Oct 11, 2004
Have you ever had one of those weeks when almost everything one touches either breaks, falls apart, fails to work or just plain explodes and hibernating seems like a brilliant idea???
Our TV blew up in a cloud of smoke and flames last Wednesday and I immediately ordered replacement telly from my mail order catalogue who were making me an offer I couldn't refuse to tempt me to spend my dosh with them. They helpfully informed me that someone would phone me during the following two days to arrange a delivery time for my lubberly new telly but after staying by the phone for four days in vain, I called them to find that the item I ordered in not currently in stock and won't be for another ten days! Customer relations! Bah! They could have at least phoned me to let me know!
Our almost new DVD player won't work properly with our temporary telly, borrowed from my son's bedroom, even after hours spent swapping cables and tuning TV channels, so I am harbouring suspicions that the exploding telly might have deviously taken the DVD player with it as a final act of revenge.
My daughter's 'new' second-hand laptop didn't want to play today but after several hours (mainly due to my inexperience with XP) the issue was resolved. I hope!
A couple of hours ago our VCR broke and took with it with one of my son's tapes on which he had several recorded episodes of his favourite anime series and a tantrum ensued from my son, equally matched by one from yours truly.
Three of our s have chucked up several times and some of it over my daughter's bedding but compared to everything else, cleaning cat sick up was an absolute breeze...
Now I have just tried to post this and auntie beeb has given me a 502 service unavailable message!
Has another vodka and walks away...
