Welcome Unknown Visitor to my little bit of the glorious BBC world. I don't know which version of DNA you are visiting me from, but please feel free to say hello. My waistcoat of arms1 So there I was, half way up Kilimanjaro, Fu Manchu at my heals and not a clew where I was going to find a decent tailor and three cases of champagne when up he popped, annexed the whole bally lot of them and gave me a copy of Bradshaw so I could catch the eight twenty back to Padington.
Munchkin, saviour of Scottish fandom, waves. Come in, Come in. First things first, I am no longer running a convention. It came, it went, it went swimmingly well and I am most definately not running another one while I can bully somone else into it. However, feel free to look here for an idea of how much fun it was at ConVivial, The Greatest Glaswegian Convention for years2
So, no doubt you are wondering who this Munchkin is. Actually, you are probably not, but I shall tell you anyway. I am, to give you the short version, a Scotsman who once was lost in the wilds of Home Counties England with a Canadian passport but has now returned to my non-Euclidean tenement flat in the west end of Glasgow. If you want the longer version, you deluded fool, do ask but be prepared for a large diatribe on Who audios, Stirling Engines, Victoriana, MG Bs, Pith Helmets and the ways of the Glasgow Ned.
Now then, where did I put that copy of Wells' History?Stuff Its the . How useful is this. The Post definately worth a read. Also home to Wowbaggers H2G2 Life cartoon, which I appeared in once
I have acquired an ICQ number 84511864 for what that is worth.Even more impressive, I've got a working copy of the program on my home PC now, so I will actually show up as online occasionally! And now, by the power of Trillian, I also have access to MSN Messenger (DrMunchkinstein@hotmail.com) and Yahoo Messenger (munchkinstein) and AIM (docmunchkinstein). In an off-site sort of way, I am part of the Off-site Topic Drift, en email discussion group made up of people from H2G2. Why not talk to Lil about joining if you never want to get away from us. I am building a page of photo links here for those interested.
The 360 me 1 As done by Asteroid Lil, what a genius she is, and now an official Duchess of Munchkinstein (here's hoping we get to put offsite pictures back on one day) 2 Oh my rampant ego!

For those of you who may be wondering where I have got to I am afraid to say that, other than this afternoon which is temporarily quiet, I am just too busy for this fine establishment. I do still exist though on the t'interweb in a blogging sense at http://munchkinstein.livejournal.com/ Sadly it is not the same as Hootoo. I can get all the random journal links and waffle I want from that but it is certainly not the same. What I miss most are the long involved rambles such as Lil's or the Snug, but they are preciously the bits I do not have time for. Annoying really. So, in the meantime I hope you are all doing well and I shall keep this space open on the hope that one day I can return, probably after I have won the lottery or something.
Back To Work Oct 24, 2005
So, I finally started my new job today. The walk to work is short, the people seem nice and the work is not yet difficult. Can't really complain can I?
Ripped off? Oct 14, 2005
I've just had this page pointed out to me; http://www.truthtree.com/learn-smiley.shtml It looks suspiciously like someone has pinched the hootoo smilies. Maybe they are allowed to, I don't know the rules but it does look a bit dodgy.
That interview... Sep 12, 2005
Went not too badly. Good enough for them to ask for my references anyway. Having never done this before I am now sitting here like a bag of highly strung cats worrying about what sort of references they will give and whither, after talking to my current work they decide not to take me on but then work knows I am thinking of leaving and it all gets awkward. Mind you I have a meeting on Friday with my personal development manager which could be interesting either way now. Anyway, here I sit all panicy and doing absolutely nothing useful. Not unlike an English Cricket fan I should think.
Interview!! Sep 8, 2005
I have an interview! For a job in Glasgow! Within walking distance of my house. And it is a job I can even do! The interview is on Monday and, as I have not been to an interview in over six years, I expect to spend most of the weekend fretting about it. Still, what ever happens it is good practise and, as I currently between projects at work, I don't even have to make up some non existent Doctor's appointment to hide the fact.
