The Personal Space of the Inexplicably Monikered Psycorp6031
I used to go on the Internet a lot, but the standard of spelling depressed me. Stuff About Me Name: Andy N BA (Hons) Born: 27/09/1985; Hope Hospital, Salford Location:Swinton, City of Salford, Greater Manchester, England.
A writer of copy, a batchelor of History, a supporter of Leeds United and a native of Salford. Anything else, just ask. I also write a media/copywriting blog. Some Quotations "I'm not quite buying it, but I'm definately window shopping, and there's a half price sale on weird." - Garth Merenge ?[I doubt] one of these guys from the G8 is on a quick 15-minute break at Gleneagles and sees Annie Lennox singing 'Sweet Dreams' and thinks ... 'She might have a point there, you know?' ? - Noel Gallagher on Live8 "You great soft, sissy, girlie, nancy, french, bender, Man United supporting puff!" - DCI Gene Hunt It is from the midst of this putrid sewer [Manchester] that the greatest river of human industry springs up and carries fertility to the whole world. From this foul drain pure gold flows forth. Here it is that humanity achieves for itself both perfection and brutalisation, that civilisation produces its wonders, and that civilised man becomes again almost a savage. - Count Alexis de Tocqueville (Voyage en Angleterre et en Irlande de 1835) Psycorp603 on H2G2 I've been an active member of the h2g2 Community since February of 2003, and in that time I've managed to keep most of my sanity despite the madness inherent in the system. I can usually be found chatting away with the VSC, lurking around the top half of the Fantasy Football league, propping up the Phantasy Phootball table, posting the odd comment in The Forum or adding to the general irreverence of the QI Society2. I'm also in full support of Skankyrich's h2g2 Writers Group, although I'm not that great at meeting deadlines. Solo Edited Entries:

My Halloween Haiku (2007) is - Six Hundred and Three/It's just a random number/What does Psycorp mean?. Much better than any anagrams you can make from Psycorp. 1 Who knows why? Is it anything to do with a computer game? Probably. 2 Their NEW Scoreboard is here. I'm in the middle of it.

Read the next issue of the post. Our editor's dragged me out of retirement to do an MMI column with Nick Reynolds, Social Media Executive, BBC Online.
That is all.
And Another Thing... Oct 13, 2009
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Things have been hectic at work (except when they decidedly weren't, which was worse) and I've been dealing with a few things.
I did pop in a week or so ago, found out that TB had passed on, and then couldn't face coming back knowing I'd missed it. He was a great bloke, and I'll miss him.
Anyway, on to less sombre matters. I've spent too days reading a certain book by a Mr. Eoin Colfer. And I loved it. Loved it so much that I did a quick review (which you can find here: http://www.unmemorabletitle.co.uk/a...view-eoin-colfer-hitchhikers-guide/)
Rich, if you want to pinch that for The Post, feel free.
So. How's everyone else?
Writing Guidelines Aug 24, 2009
Rule ONE on the writing guidelines page is this:
Write About Reality.
That's simple enough. If it's the EG, it needs to be about reality. So why the hell is the featured, blobbed entry on the first page a deconstruction of a bloody fictional ray gun?
It doesn't even point out it's a fictional ray gun from a TV programme. It just throws it out there as if the damn thing existed. I was hoping for an interesting "look how Star Trek tech is moving closer to reality" piece, and instead I got dull fanfiction.
Is this a joke?

An Open Letter to the BBC Aug 20, 2009
For anyone not reading http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/08/h2g2_an_update.html
You've got an online resource that you've given very little attention or funding for most of the decade.
Regardless of the lack of attention, it's built up a loyal user-base (and judging by the stats, lots of non-regular interest) and thousands of people have used their time and effort to create an interesting, informative and entertaining resource.
What do you do? It looks like you're trying to justify dropping it.
With funding and attention, you could've had Wikipedia, Myspace and Yahoo! Answers rolled into one. What you've got is something lesser than all three, but still more than the sum of it's parts.
Rather than asking "can we justify keeping h2g2 on", you could do with asking "can we justify letting a golden egg slip through our fingers AGAIN?"
Still, never mind. I suppose you need license payer's cash to fund another interminable season of "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps" instead.
When Did That Happen?? Aug 11, 2009
I've never been one for anniversaries round here, but I've just noticed something on my PS:
"Created: 22nd February 2003"
Six and a half years I've been here. Six and a half years. That's mindblowing.
