1 Raukodraug comes from two elven name parts found in the appendix of J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion. "Rauko" meaning Demon and "Draug" meaning Wolf. It was a joke refering to my tendancy to have unruly facial hair. fullmoon

LIbrary Training
May 14, 2003

OK, so I'm stuck at a library circ training at the st. Louis College of Pharmacy. For two days, 8 hours a day, I will be stuck in front of a laptop reviewing how to use the circulation software.

This of course means that I won't be updating my random fun page. I also won't be able to spend much time surfing the web finding fun and interesting things. Needless to say, this is driving me crazy. wah

So far no one sitting next to me has said anything about me being here, but the trainer keeps getting up and walking around to look at our screens. I'm making quite a bit of use of the ALT-TAB keystroke. winkeye

It's been nearly a month since I've written anything in my journal here. Things have been going fairly well. Nisra and I held our 6th Annual BBQ this past Saturday. We got the BBQ in between two sets of storms that rolled through that day. All in all a nice day. I got to see a few friends that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Part of the timing of this years BBQ was to celebrate Paradox's graduation from college. It took him a little longer than most students, but hey, now he's done.

Well, I best get back to paying attention.

Random Fun
Apr 11, 2003

Have you ever seen those "Which [fill in the blank] would you be?" quizzes? Well, Paradox had one of those things up on his journal tonight, and I've been wanting to do find a place to post those for a while now. Not that I think anyone really cares about these things, but they're fun and hey who cares if anyone reads them, I enjoy it.

So I though about it this evening and came up with my solution, Raukodraug's Random Fun. A page where I can post these blasted things (and anything else I can come up with). It should be fun to see how this develops.

Once I have the page put together, I'll drop a link above.

TTFN,
Draug fullmoon

"Roadtrip"
Apr 2, 2003

"Drivin' down Highway 55.
My straw suckin' dry in a cup of ice.
I wish the world could always be so nice."
- from "Roadtrip" by Bill Michalski

It happens every year about this time. You think I'd be used to it by now, or at least ready for it, but I never am. Maybe it's the start of spring, my wife thinks it's me stressing out about my impending birthday.

It always starts with me questioning where I am in life and where I'm going. This of course leads me into a funk. For a week or so I just don't feel right about anything. I feel like I'm on the wrong path for where I want to go, or that I don't know where I'm going, or worse yet I'm on a path that is taking me somewhere other than where I feel I need to go.

And then one night it hits. I'll walk outside, headed toward my car, and it hits. And almost indescribable feeling of wanderlust. LIke I want to jump in my car and go... anywhere.

Of couse, I don't. I have responsibilities, a family, a job. This year it seems worse though. I haven't been able to shake the wanderlust yet. It's made it hard to concentrate on anything other than the desire for a change. A change of scenery. A change of pace. Right now I don't care what kind of change, I just need something new. Maybe this year it will help me make some real decisions about what changes to make in my life.

It happens every year about this time. You think I'd be used to it by now, or at least ready for it, but I never am. Maybe it's the start of spring, my wife thinks it's me stressing out about my impending birthday. I'm not sure what causes it, but in some ways I like it.
